Review There's something strange with case steels (new models)

This is a review of the mini trapper, blue Barlow and jig bone stockman .
I've been making posts online about this exact issue but people mostly acknowledge the blade play.

Let me explain: their SS steel is not sharpening well. For starters iv sharpened all kind of steels all the way up to s35vn and i never had this issue.
It simply won't get sharp.
I use everything, ceramic rod, strop stones and just.. NOTHING . I mean seriously.. what are they doing over there? If there's anyone from. Case listening this is the ONE qc thing you shouldn't ignore, all knives have to be functional. This is a serious violation of your brand reputation
Sharpening a friends newer stockman in SS I had the same thing happen to me.
She sent it back, got a new new one & that was also defective.

Yep. People calling me crazy, you can keep going iv sharpened steels with 63 HRC before, no one can tell me it's a skill issue

Howdy, I'm new to this forum. I've been viewing silently for years but just finally found a reason to post. I received a new small stockman from Case recently and have also noticed it will not take an edge. I sent it back to them and mentioned the heat treat may be bad. They sent it right back "sharpened" but it can't cut a thing. The quality of the knife overall is above average for them, so that's great. But the steel is something weird to me. I'm not sure what to do. Hopefully they resolve this. On the other hand, I just got a CS blade from them and that steel is spot on for me.

Welp, I got frustrated and sent a follow up email (nicely worded). They are sending me a mailer and claim they will have the blades on the knife replaced. I guess we shall see what happens in a couple weeks. I'll post back in case this is helpful/ relevant to your situation at all.

I checked around the web and couldn't find the small stockman with CS blades. But when I receive the mailer, I'll definitely put a note in there with a pretty please request for them to give it a shot. I definitely prefer carbon steel anyhow.

Alrighty. I got my knife back from Case today. I did leave a note, which has been disregarded. As far as I can tell, they are the same blades as before. They came with a wire edge which I had to remove, and for some reason one of the bolsters is now crooked. Is does cut now but I'm not sure why myself or them were unable to put an edge on it the first few times. Who knows. Now I gotta use up the edge and try putting my own on again. If I have to send this particular knife back to Case to be sharpened every time it'll be a safe ornament rather than a user.

Edit: I just saw above some folks might want to test. I couldn't find that particular post. If anyone is interested and has the means, I'd be more than happy to snail mail it off for a hardness check.
