I received a pleasant surprise in the form of a BladeHQ phone call saying that my Kershaw Thermite was in their hands. I ordered back in February of 2013. Good news is welcome and I still want that Spanto folder. Now let me see.... Didn't I have Thermite ordered somewhere else? Huh, err, uh, yes I did. Way to go BladeHQ. Link to paid dealers: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/entry.php/121-Who-are-the-Bladeforums-Paid-Dealers

I wonder just how long the calling list is? The store doesn't show them in stock. http://www.bladehq.com/item--Kershaw-Thermite-Flipper-Spring--14798

Oh yesssssssssssssssss! Both arms went up into the air above my head when I got off the phone with BHQ. A score indeed.

Brilliant frame lock folder @ a bargain price AND it is flawless. Perfectly sharp from tang to pointy Spanto tip. Stone wash stainless steel doesn't highlight finger prints. Assisted flipper doesn't overwhelm the user's finger control and it shouldn't scare the kids.

Everyone should have one of these.

Kershaw is just down the street so they can take a crack at moving the pocket clip, to tip up, when I get around to it.

Flawless if you like tip down carry. Impossible to switch as the screws are retained by something closely resembling JB Weld.

Comparo:

Buck, 124 (don't need any stinking lock) 13.41 oz
ZT, 561 (frame lock) 5.18 oz
Thermite, Kershaw (frame lock) 5 ounces
Spyderco, Endura (back lock) 3.79 oz

The artistic scale does not even look like a knife. Camo the blade and it would look a South American tree frog. The poisonous kind.

Great fit, coloration & finish work btw. Well-done.

It works for me as a left pocket carry knife since if the blade were to open in my pocket it's blade would point away from the mule. I am right handed so the assisted opening aids my relatively clumsy left hand. However, my EDC routine is to carry a Buck 424 in the bottom of my right front pocket and a ZT 561 clipped into my RFP. I never carry clipits in both front pockets. I could start but I don't think that I will. My plan is to trundle myself over to Kershaw and see if they would be so kind as to flip the pocket clip to the other end of the stainless scale. Gee I sure hope that it won't be necessary to return it to China where an authentic Kungfu gripe technique is necessary to remove the screws holding the pocket clip on... Perhaps today is that day. I'll post here upon my return from Kershaw, which, btw, is just down the road a country mile from my old homestead here in this neck of the woods.

Short video of Thermite being opened and closed with right and left hands for your amusement:

The Kershaw factory warranty dept. flipped, without any hesitation, the pocket clip to tip-up carry position for my right front pocket since I'm a righty. It took no more than two minutes. They have tools, confidence and technique. The rep. was polite, friendly, capable and quick as a bunny. Thank you kindly. I'm really tickled with the Thermite. It displaced the ZT 561 today and the 561 has been with me for about a year now doing excellent EDC duty.

After the clip was moved at the factory from one end of the stainless steel slab to the other end:

A few more pics for the enthusiasts, you know who you are.

BTW I ordered a second one today I like the first so much. A different vendor.

I've carried the Thermite for a few days and this is a real knife with nothing not to like.

Thank you for looking.

Thank you for the kind words. I was hoping that you would like the pics. I am all over photos of cutlery in the forums and most of the time I don't post much. This forum has been very generous to me. Thank you forum members.

Not a problem. I love drooling over legit pics of knives I'm interested in. I know the handle is rather long...how does it actually feel in hand?

The knife feels like a hand-in-a-glove to me in the forward grip. About 1/4" of the handle's end protrudes from my grip. A bit to strike with, if you ever do that sort of thing.

In the reverse grip about the same amount of handle protrudes from my closed hand.

The stainless steel side is slick. The G10 side has OK grip thanks, in part, to the design cut into it.

Awesome. Thank you for the quick response! I'll be up in Austin this weekend and they have a Cabela's around there. Hopefully I can take a look at the Thermite and Cryo 2.

You are welcome. My pleasure.
