For those of you who have thermocouples in your forges, what are you using (model# if possible) and where did you get it? It's time to quit fooling with eBay on this and get a real one.

Thanks,

Gene

Here's the one I've used for both my forge and my heat treating oven. Next time I think I'll try one of those super omegaclad TC's that Ed pointed you to, though I haven't had any trouble with the one I'm using.

Thanks Ed and Nathan,

That's just what I was looking for. I just rebuilt my forge and it's running hotter than ever, but enquiring minds still need to know how hot.

Thought I'd dig this old thread back up instead of making a new one. For use in a propane forge, which is preferable, a grounded or ungrounded junction?

I ordered the same thing that stephanflowler has posted.. I just got it in the mail yesterday. I will let you know how it works out..

I ordered the same PID and thermocouple as well and recieved them yesterday. After a few minutes of looking over the instructions for the PID I am a little overwhelmed-evidently I don't speak the lingo. I am going to use it just as a pyrometer for now, if anyone cares to help it would be much appreciated. I'm guessing most of the settings are not necessary for my immediate purpose but I'm a bit over my head here.
