Thermos recommendation(s)??

OK, I've got the Stanly 1 qt that rocks. Camo for those tactical
coffee breaks:)

However, I also have one of those silver bullet jobs that sucks! The
damn thing leaks. I have to make sure that it sits upright or otherwise I have a mess. Do I just have a defective top or what? I could stow my Stanly upside down all day long and nada.

I hate that damn little button top piece of you know what!

I've got the 1 qt. bullet thermos and the 14 oz. leakproof commuter mug. The insulating abilities of the thermos really are phenomenal. I used to fill it with ice water and leave it in my car (summertime, full-sun exposure) for hours and when I come back for a drink it still has ice. The leakproof mug does not insulate as well (most of the heat is lost through the plastic top) but the top plug unscrews for easy cleaning, no levers or little holes like most mug lids. It is indeed leakproof and holds ALMOST enough for a trip to work (16 oz. would be ideal). Sure they cost a little more, but they work great and they're tough.

The Nissan Silver Bullet I have has a plug and does not leak at all.

Those push button tops always botherd me because you are relying on indirect mechanics to make the seal.

With the solid plugs on both my Stanley and Nissan thermos, if they ever leak, it's because I didn't screw the stopper on very tight, not that I have to apply that much pressure. If for some reason I got a cut in the rubber seal, it would be very easy to replace but, those push top jobs would probably require a new stopper.

You guys are right about the boiling water trick in your thermos. The problem I find when I do that with boiling water is that I find my drink too hot for the drive into work. Maybe I'm just clumsy but, I still don't like burning my mouth and tongue every time I hit a rough spot in the road or someone does an unsignaled collision manuever causing me to make abrupt advoidance manuevers.

Merry Christmas all and Drive Safe,
Sid

After viewing this thread I've tried to find just the top but with no such luck. Does anyone know where I can purchase just the twist and pour top?

Thanks!

I have Nissan as well and it is great for coffee. However, I tried to fill it with Coke for summer use once and it made quite a mess.
