These are just too cute. How about some knife icons, instead?

I don't mind the ones on the individual posts, but I think I'll avoid the rush and start hating the ones on the topics right away. For most forums, they don't add much information. And they do add clutter.

Can they be selectively disabled? They'd be great for Good, Bad, and Ugly, for example....
 
If you don't like them, don't use 'em, right?

The extra column, whether it has the default
icon1.gif
icon or one of the others, makes the topics page cluttered, without adding any cognitive value.
 
Maybe we can make some custom ones later. For now it is just a feature of the software and Spark and I have no real control over them.

So for now I agree they do detract a bit but as we get used to them the newness will go away.
