These things are like crack

Is that a Khukuri House cheetlang? I have one of those, marketed through the now defunct Gurkha House. It has a distal taper from the elbow to the tip. The balance is incredible, it feels almost alive in my hands. That knife is the most weapon-esque of all my khukuris.

My promise to you folks is this, when my Mini Tarwar, Vojpuri Bowie and JKM-1 Knife arrive later this week, I will take some group shots again.

I can no longer take it as one, big group shot like this one I did earlier in March of this year, without climbing up on my roof to get far enough away to get them all in:

sorry for the lighting on this one but it was so nice out when I started to do this and when I was ready to take the picture, it suddenly turned to about to rain.
I barely got them all back into their scabbards & sheaths and inside before it started pouring

So I will break things down into groups, Khukuris, Swords & Knives (until I someday score a Banchero Axe then I will call this group "Everything Else").

I am guessing I should have the stuff by Thursday or Friday, depending on Yangdu's schedule with Pala. I am never in a hurry anymore and it is far more important that she sees to her father than to packing and shipping my stuff. I would like to give you "New Sharks" one hot tip that was given me when I started out, ask Auntie to "Start a pile" for you. If you intend to be buying a few over a month or so of DOtD's and can stand the wait, you can save yourself a ton on shipping n the long run this way. I honestly think that I have saved myself a few khukuris' worth of money at least in shipping if not more so far doing it this way. For me, being able to buy more stuff is far more important than getting it RIGHT NOW... :D

bloody hell warty thats a collection worth having by anyone's standard ive over 40 in mine but ashamed to say only12 of which are h.i. if you havnt gused yet im envious very envious:mad:

Really? I would imagine with your seniority you should have amassed a collection worthy of envy yourself.

If it had not rained, and is likely to be raining all day, here today, I would have taken the first group's picture, Khukuries.
Since what I have coming are two "Knives" and a "Sword," the Khukuri Group is ready for its picture now.
Perhaps tomorrow things will be more favorable for picture taking...

That's a nice collection by anyone's standards w. What's that long knife on the left of your pic? Looks very impressive!

All the way to the left of the rows is a Bhutan Sword made by Sher, the Tiger Kami.
It has honestly make me rethink my desire for a GCB* since it is about the same length but I like this shape better.

*Giant Chitlangi Bowie

Having both, I find there is no comparison in feel, use or application between the two blades, and recommend that you should get both so as you can also put them to the test. :D

To me, the Bhutan is for up-close thrusting and slashing with its balance just forward of the guard, whereas the Giant Chitlange Bowie feels as if it will cleave through anything standing in its way when launched with one almighty power-swing.

But as to shape, that is a personal matter open to individual opinion. As far as I'm concerned the Giant Chitlangi Bowie is the most aesthetic pleasing blade I own, bar none, including non HI blades. It will be the last blade I part with, and then it is to be gifted to a mate of over 30years friendship.

The Giant Chit is best thought of not as a big bowie knife, but as a broadsword.

It indeed will hack through just about anything -- whether you want it to or not.

When I got mine I took it out in the yard and got medieval on a tree that was threatening to crack my foundation. I hacked it down, hacked the roots, and pried the stump and remainder of the roots out of the ground (it is a villager, so it just made the finish a little nicer ;)). We had a German guy who had just moved across the street from us. I looked up from my screaming moment of bloodlust (sap-lust?), and he was standing there, eyes wide, jaw hanging down by his feet. I held up the Giant Chit, pointed at it, and yelled to him "Got a new fishing knife!" He nodded, waved back, and just said "Yes. Nice." as he locked his gate and ran back inside.

:D

Jeez, does that guy give lessons? My breast-stroke needs serious work...seriously.

well if I see a GCB, I will likely jump on it if I can possibly afford it but they are near $300 and I really don't have it now...

The collection pix have to wait for a bit.
Hurt my back and can't set the stuff up to take the shots nor can I even stand up to take the pictures. :(
