Fellow Suspects,

The purpose of this post is to have a vote on whether we should ask Spark to lock/remove the user identity called "TheUsualSuspect". I believe that this is the name of a great group of people that are fans of Ernest Emerson Knives and who frequent this forum.

The development of this name and its identity has taken a long time and while membership is informal, we all know when we belong. We also know who hangs around these parts and will eventually become a Suspect. This identity is now strong enough that it is refered to in other parts of Bladeforums which have no connection to the Emerson Forum.

Please cast your votes and post your opinion on this subject. If there is a strong enough voice, we can ask Kevin to give our group identity back to those it belongs to and not some Troll.

Regards,

Ed

I don't think anyone of the true Suspects would have `TheUsualSuspect' as a username. But it is a free country and I don't know if we can legislate against bad taste or bad judgement.

I hope that anyone that uses a name associated with this fine group of people present themselves with decorum in all areas of Bladeforums. I'm sure that if they don't, the moderators will deal with the individual appropriately.

This....person...has become a very bad joke.

I'm working today in order to establish the USN, and we are very close to a full launch.

The USN project is very near and dear to me because of the friendships and trusted relationships that I've developed HERE on this forum. USN moderators will have the power to strike down individuals such as the idiot that prompted this thread. I will not question the judgement of USN moderators because their judgement is entirely trusted. Entirely.

Spark, you have seen the havoc first hand that Trolls have wreaked upon your otherwise fine forum. I enjoy your forums immensely, and shall continue to do so even after I launch the USN. As Gold Member in good standing of these forums, I whole-heartedly invite and welcome you to participate in the upcoming USN forums. However,.....the intent of the USN forums is to create a "Troll-free forum experience" (which will cater primarily to high-end tactical custom knife owners), because sadly enough Blade Forums is NOT Troll-free as of late, by any means.

Trolls will be trolls, but they can also be readily erradicated by those of a vigilant nature.

When good people like my friends Ed, Bob, and Raye (along with many other Suspects whom I communicate with regularly) point out that there is a problem here, there is INDEED a problem. Hopefully you'll deem this issue worthy of your consideration.

Respectfully,
Eric Blair

While I normally do not believe in interfering with another's business, in this case I vote to lock the username TheUsualSuspect. I can see no good out of allowing this individual to continue be associated with the deserving Suspects. As my ownership of Emersons is currently limited to the factory offerings, I myself may never become one of the inner group of Suspects either. But I'd still like to see the group maintain its identity without having a self-appointed outsider trash it.

I am usually very forgiving in most situations but the reply to Chris(See 2)was an attack on all of the Suspects and should not be allowed.
My 2 cents.

Never argue with an IDIOT, they will drag you down to their level and beat you with experance.

The dork's gotta go. I don't know how many identities he has now, last time I checked he's got 5 ID's here, and all he does is lie, whine, and cause trouble. The sooner he's banned the happier I'll be.

Kill the name and ban the idiot who just refuses to GO AWAY! I'm also curious about Mr. Emerson Guy...for someone who just shows up today, newly registered, posting no location or email address...makes you wonder, doesn't it?? Whoever "Xavier" is, would you please post you email address? If it's a hotmail or AOL address I'm going to be even MORE curious...

If Mr. Xavier IS legit, I apologize for this line of questioning. Too many coincidences of late...

Regardless of whether you are for or against this user being banned the descision here is being made by the user's peers who are voting on the issue. BF by nature is not a democracy. Spark and his moderators have a job to do and that job is moderating the forums. However, at times they have allowed the majority to determine an outcome on certain issues.

I think in this case we have an opportunity to effect an outcome in a way that is as democratic as its gonna get...In short yes, its a free country which means that you can be tasteless but it also means that a given community (Emerson Forums) does not necessarily have to put up with it.
I think that it is being handled well.

I ain't a supsect or even close. But I say ban him. He raises the consternation of everyone. It is up to Spark though. Keep'em sharp, I know my EKI's are!

although i'm a fan of Emerson's knives I have yet to call myself a usual suspect. I have more respect for a group of people like the usual suspects than to just barge in and call myself a usual suspect. I think that TTo/usual suspect whatever his name is definately does not have the spirit that would be expected of a real usual suspect but beside that he is likely to do damage to a name that from what I have seen is associated with a bunch of decent whackos uh i mean guys:D . the name definately should be removed from the boards even if it wasn't a complete troll using it.

For my own opinion, I don't have a problem with whatever username is used by anyone. In this case however, it's being used by someone who doesn't give it the respect it has deserved.

My main problem is with the troll who is using it. He has, can and probably will just make another identity for himself. This troll needs to be permanently barred from the Forums and never allowed back in. He has been given plenty of warnings and we have turned a blind eye to his warped sense of reality for too long.

Greg, Kevin, Brandon, and longbow;

If you guys would kindly forward me your contact info, I would proudly include your info within the USN database, and I KNOW that none of the Suspects would disagree.

By the way, if you guys have already submitted, I apologize for not including you because my e-mail recently went down via my ISP which caused me to lose a few e-mails.

I have voted.

I am only new here myself but I plan on becoming a frequent user of this forum and hopefully one day, a Usual Suspect.

I can already see the potential problems that this username could cause and hey guys and gals, it is already throwing a small rift in (from what I have seen), a bloody good discussion group.

I too have looked into the associations of the 'various' and 'linked' usernames to do with 'TheUsualSuspect'and something just aint right.....

Do not let anybody wreck a good thing such as the USN and name sake. Sorry dude, I think your gone.....

My two cents? I guess so...

Stay happy people..

Guy

My 2 cents. I'm not an Usual Suspect but I do own an Emerson production and have a great respect for Mr. Emerson's custom designs. I say any nickname should be ok unless it is vulgar or the user tries to use it to impersonate somebody else. Spark is the only one to make that decision. The term "usual suspect" was around well before this forum albeit here it is usually associated with those who participate in the Emerson forum.

My opinion is though the "The Usual Suspect" is the troll also know as "The Tactical One" and "Iced Sapphire" and he should be banned. Not because of his BF nick, but because he is a major league ******* with serious personality disorders.

Hmmm,..shovel,...shovel,.....

Strider makes a cool Bad Axe in order to do it REAL proper, Clayton. :D
Little pieces, all shake and baked in lime......
