They're remaking ALIEN.

Hollyweird will probably screw them up like they did The Day The Earth Stood Still. :grumpy:

The Predator will probably be an interplanetary environmental agent coming to Earth to avenge humanities pollution of the planet.

The Aliens will be interplanetary environmental agents sent to Earth to avenge humanities pollution of the planet.

If they remake Attack of the Killer Tomatoes, the tomatoes will be interplanetary.....etc.

You know what movie should be remade? Lifeforce. Anyone see that one? Vampires from space. It had some decent material. They should rebuild it fromt the ground up (making sure to include the nekkid shots).

There is a great Korean suspense film, Oldboy, that I heard is going to be remade by Speilberg and maybe star Will Smith. Oldboy is a film that I don't think anybody can remake. It's one of the best and most shocking suspense movies ever and already a huge cult favorite. Not to mention, I'm not certain that Hollywood, or a star like Smith, would be able to handle the twist in the movie; 'nuff said.

wow, I feel bad now.:thumbdn: The boxing/fight scene w/n the tunnel is very memorable

has anyone ever seen the Guinea Pig series? flower of the flesh was prett-ty bloody/gory

Lifeforce was actually very good. It shows up on TV now and again, but I haven't seen it for years.

They are now confirming that the Alien film will be a prequel, which will let them do pretty much whatever they want. Could go either way.

I saw it last night, it is real bad. However, the premise could have been done better with better FX, better acting and a better script. But, for an 80's B movie, it is entertaining. Every time you thought it might go from bad to not too bad, it took another turn. It was neat to see Patrick Stewart.

And yes, Mathilda May is a knockout.

Waiting for Shia Labuff (whatever) in the remake of "Spartacus" and Johnny Knoxville as "Dirty Harry". :(:jerkit:

Okay, is it just me or does Hugh Jackman look exactly like a younger Clint Eastwood when he's playing Wolverine - forget the costume, I'm talking sideburns, squint, attitude, and all of that jazz. Damn if he wouldn't be the perfect freaking actor to reboot that franchise.

I doubt you saw that in the theaters 1976. I think it was added when it went to video.

Paul

Since it didn't hit theaters until 1977, I doubt it, too. ;)

I believe Episode IV did appear in the original opening titles. The "A New Hope" line was added later. I could be wrong, I only saw it in the theater 38 times in '77, '78 and a drive-in in '79.

I also recall reading an article back then that said there were plans for 9 movies, with the original being the first of the middle three.

As for "Alien", that film made quite an impression on me. I was in the Navy, out on patrol (FBM submarine) when it was released. We got back from Guam, and the first night back I decided to go take in a movie. Never saw a trailer, tv spot or anything else about it. All I knew about it was what was on the poster.

A prequel could be interesting, but given the size and shape of the remains of the alien astronaut in the first movie, it would almost have to be done entirely CGI, and I don't think the technology is really up to the task yet. A straight remake/update would most likely lack the impact of the original, even if they didn't succumb to the temptation to make it a special effect fest rather than a movie.

If they're remaking AlienS, they should cast Cote de Pablo as Vasquez...

Just rewatched a couple scenes, great movie.

I always fantasized about being grabbed by Sigourney Weaver and forced to be her sex slave in every way.

I too saw it a bunch of times in the theater etc. I remember seeing Emprie Strikes back and seeing Episode V and saying...WTF? Then all the news about nine episode etc came out. If it was meant to be serial from the get go there would not have been so much talk when Empire Strikes Back came out.

From Wiki:

The film was originally released as Star Wars, without Episode IV or the subtitle A New Hope. The 1980 sequel, Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back, featured an episode number and subtitle in the opening crawl. When the original film was re-released in 1981, Episode IV: A New Hope was added above the original opening crawl. Although Lucas claims that only six films were ever planned, representatives of Lucasfilm discussed plans for nine or 12 possible films in early interviews.[64] The film was re-released theatrically in 1978, 1979, 1981, 1982, and with additional scenes and enhanced special effects in 1997. CBS was host to the film's world broadcast premiere in 1984.
