I was wondering if 15n20 could be found in thicker thicknesses then the thin stuff. looking for anywhere between .125 and .25 thick. i needed some for a knife but i only had the thin stuff, its like .06. So i grabbed up 4 strips of the 15n20 and 3 strips of 1095 (just because) and flat welded them together to get the thickness i needed. I was not really looking for a pattern so i did not do any pet tern work on the billet. it will be interesting to see how it turns out. its on the surface grinder right now.

What the heck; ya might as well fold that billet a few times and get a decent pattern out of it. You're already part way there, ya know. ;)

As for the original question about 15N20, I think a lot of folks would like to know where to get thicker 15N20. I know I sure would.

Alpha Knife Supply lists 15N20 in .120 thk.

Uddeholm steel in ohio has a small sheet in .125. They also told me they have a couple large rolls of .125 in a warehouse. I'm gonna keep bugging Aldo until he buys it. :D

Well you got your wish. i cut it up in 3 lengths and re stacked with 3 more strips between each chunk. i then welded it and drew it out and ground notches in it for a ladder pattern and hand forged flat. i hope you are happy with your self Danbo ;)

I will be, once I see the end result, and I believe you will be too. ;)

What, after all that forging of the billet, you milled the blade rather than forged it out? ;)
