Thick or thin blade for batoning

When making bow and hand drill sets I have no problem batonning soft hardwoods with a Mora, which is rather thin.
From my experience the only advantage I have seen with a thicker blade like from BarK River, is the baton applies more force to the larger area which is helpful if your baton is not a hard wood. Also makes splitting wood a little easier too.
