THICK smaller folders... why?

Picked up a Boker Catalyst and didn't notice it has a fat little blade:

But where is this thickness???

Why show a Garberg???

Because:

I would have to break out a micrometer to find any difference. So I'm left wondering why why why would you want such a thick little blade? I'm sure the answer is to cut stuff but if I have to use a hammer to wedge my way through an apple then I'm a little lost on this one.

Yeah, there's lots of knives im interested in but the blade stock thickness is a deal breaker for me. I like .10" or thinner.

Explains the cavernous fuller, but what about the hole in the flipper tab? It looks to be a larger diameter than the lanyard hole. Is that drilled out in an effort to save half a gram?
