Hi all,

I've got a blade with profiled but not shaped 3/8" scales attached. (Left one in the pic)

I would like to do something like this.

My plan is to shape the sides like in the pic above. Get the two curves in and a bevel at the front towards the ricasso and then just round all of the edges.

Sound reasonable?

There are various ways to get there but you may want to get a profile gauge if you don't already have one. Helps to get the symmetry right.

Well, I see that the scales are already on but I was going to say to make sure you finish up the front of the scales before attaching them.

Funny you should say that,

The one on the left is canvas micarta and I took it to 800 then buffed so I'm good on that one. The one on the right is black linen micarta and it was just to 220. Whoops! I dinged the previous buffed front of the paper micarta scales on my last one and took it back up to 2000 carefully and then rebuffed so I will have to do a similar thing with the knife on the right.

Oh well, that's what I get for being in a hurry to get it glued up before putting the kids to bed.

I'll get a couple 100 blades done under my belt and I'll make you a version of one.:D
