[Personal data removed at request of the named party since restitution was eventually made and the thread is quite old.]
He has been using kavic11@yahoo.com
I have filed a formal complaint with the Postal Inspectors. It seems he has done this to several people. If anyone can find him let me know. This guy is a outright thief not just a screwup. He set out to rip as many folks as he could.

Money order sent around 3/18/01 at the same time I know for sure of TWO more people who also sent money orders. I bet there were more. The knife in question was recived by one of the people. It has been posted on here since all this started. I have asked for my money back several times. All I ever got back was 1 e mail that said there was a MISTAKE and he would send my money back. That was on 4/14/01. He will not answer my e mail and I still dont have my money. If it was a MISTAKE, how do you sell 3 people the same knife have all 3 pay, cash thier money orders and send one guy the knife? Just what did he think the other 2 people were doing. Buying a thought about a Randall. If it was a MISTAKE why has he gone and spent our money and sent no refund. I just want my money back. One of the other folks has just recieved his money back where is mine. Now you tell me what do you call a MISTAKE like that a MISTAKE or outright STEALING folks money? As of todays mail still no e mail replys or snail mail from the guy.
Not a happy camper
Ed

That really sucks!

I don't know how much you lost Life, but I hope it is something you can live with. It takes a real dirt bag to do something like that. That would get me so mad, that I think I would take the 4 hour ride just to see the B******.

I just hope that old saying comes through on this guy... "What goes around, comes around". I hope you get this all settled Life. Take care!

We pass the money stage two weeks ago. It's personal now. No excuse for that kind of behavior.

I can't stand it when I see people getting ripped off like this. I too have been ripped off by a gunsmith who has taken my money and money of others and has fled to the New Mexico from Arkansas. He took a lot of money and most of all trust.

I'm sorry to hear about your problem Ed and I hope you have better luck than I have had.

I have a friend and his brother is a NM state Trooper. Do you want me to talk to him? Maybe we can find the guy. If so send as much data as possible. Did this guy work for the Clinton bunch?
Ed

I should add.....back in the past almost 15 years ago there was a guy who did me much harm....made one of my best friends think I was a liar and pushed me out of a very good job.....I did nothing but stay out of his way......today he is in jail and has only one arm.......too bad!!!!!!

He even cash a USPS money order. That was not very smart. I guess he figured it was a way to raise some quick cash. That mistake bit just dont fly.

It seems to be going in the right direction for you. Hopefully you will not only get refunded, but also the satisfaction knowing that you are the one who said NO MORE, and brought him down.

I think I speak for everyone here, its about time someone stood up and stopped this type of crime. Bravo, my hat is off to you...

If getting to him is worth some money, you can sue him in his local small claims court. Almost all small claims courts will take out-of-state plaintiffs an allow you to file the complaint by mail. If it actually comes to a trial, though, you would need to travel there for it. We do this roughly once per month as a small token of indignation over credit card fraud. Most of the time, the bad guy pays up. Some of the time he doesn't but winds up in jail because the judge issues a warrant for his arrest right at the small claims trial. It always costs more than what you lose, though, so you need to do it for the principle, not the money. Sorry it happened to you. We get 3 or 4 fraudulent orders per day and get stung once every 10 days or so. It's frustrating. Believe me, I know.

Sorry to hear again of your woes, Ed. A real pisser. I have a very deep down, nasty, reaction to thieves.

I know that in past posts, a forumite who lived near a scumbag like this has offered to go by and check things out. It would seem to me that with nearly 11K members, that it is likely there is someone nearby who could perhaps try to help you.

Speaking for myself, most of my LEO contacts are gone, but I have a couple. And, I know a few parole officers, and a couple prosecutors in my county. One thing I know for certain, people like that are consistent in their behavior. They don't have just one little area of theft, like web knives. They are stealing in other ways all the time. Sometimes information about another crime can be helpful for the local gendarmes re getting warrants, more effective hassling of the person etc.

This is a community and we all should be willing to help our fellow forumites. It is much more likely an issue of when, rather than if, we ourselves will have a similar problem with which to deal.

Good luck with this bozo.

Dave

Go to the guys house for a little visit. I wish I could help you out. Good luck with the money problem.

Sorry

Well its my fault. I was being to easy. My collection was mostley Case (600 plus knives). Well I got the custom bug and then the art knife bug. You know the rest of that story. Really for the number of trades and sales I did way better than normal as far as getting bit. Just think of getting hit everyday and taking a loss every 10 days like Knife Outlet can you imagine. I have only had a few losses but they matter. Overall the forum folks are good regular folks and are honest. Thats why I stay here. The good is way more than the bad. This one guy just really made me mad because it was not a accident. Thanks to all and don't let my problem make you think this is not a good forum. It is a very good place to hang your hat.

I finally received a refund from this guy.

I sent him a certified letter/return receipt stating that if I did not receive a full refund by a certain date, I would file paperwork with the Postal Inspector. I finally received the return receipt with his signature. He emailed me a few days before the deadline and told me he would mail the refund one day after my deadline. It was postmarked on the day he said he would mail it, and it was sent to me certified/return receipt.

Funny thing is, the MO was for two cents more than what I had requested. Any lawyers that can tell me about that? Consideration?

I'm still following LYFSFUN's refund request, and told Mr. O'Neill that I did not consider the case closed until Ed also receives his refund. Let me know if you need any help, Ed. I'll be glad to do anything I can. Good luck. I consider myself very lucky to only be out a little postage in the deal.

LYFSFUN,
Sorry to hear of your "deal gone bad".

This guy is obviously a "Pathetic S**tstick" of the highest order!!!!

These kind of stories really make me rage!!!

I hope that he comes clean and refunds your money. Then shortly afterwards finds himself in front of a judge (hopefully a knifenut judge) who decides to make him someone's b***h up at the big house.
'Ya know what I mean?

There, I'm feeling better now.

Good Luck with this!!!!!

Ed,
I'm glad it worked out for you. Too bad in these situations you can't get refunded for all the time and worry it takes to get what was rightfully yours back.

LYFSFUN, I am sorry that I did not get to read this thread a lot sooner because as it happens I live about 15 miles from this joker who ripped you off. If you would still like to gather a little more info on the guy just say the word and I will do a recon on him.

I'm glad to hear that you got your money back. It's just a shame that you had to put out such great eforts to retrieve what was rightfully yours to begin with.

The postal service is full of bastards just as bad as the guy who stole your money. I have ordered auto-strykers from Knife Outlet twice, and both times the packages arrived cut open and empty. I can't do them UPS because I live on a military base. And it has been months and I haven't even got the insurance money back yet. The postal service has me at their mercy and I can't really do anything about it! What in the hell can we do to the thiefs?!?
