Someone broke into my dads tool trailer that i was using to store some of my knife making tools, it was parked in the street in front of my house. They took my angle grinder and all the heads i had for it, router, my metal chop saw and alot of my dads tools (compressor, nail guns, etc..) its worse that his tools got stolen because he uses them to make money to support us, but i got my first knife order from a cop for something similar to wilson tacticals "cop tool" and i cant realy forge something like that. i still have my one by thirty grinder, but it wont do the work i need it to do cutting the piece off the bar and removing the metal to get the profile. im pretty pissed, its the first time anything has happened like this in my 17 years living in my house, my neighborhood is usually really quiet..... oh well ive got to figure out how to get it done pretty soon so i dont mess up my first order....:(

Wow  that really sucks!:thumbdn: i'm sorry to hear about that!:grumpy:
You can use a round 1/4" chainsaw file to form the guthook-like seatbelt ripper. the chizel edges cand be done on your 1x30. And if he wants the serrations in the main blade, a 1/8" chainsaw file wil do a dandy job on those.

A hack saw will cut the metal off the bar (if its not hardened). You might want to watch craigslist in your area for a used angle grinder. Otherwise, sometimes the auto parts stores put them on sale.

What Phil said... I've seen HF list angle grinders for as low as $15-20. Who cares if it burns up in a couple months, make one knife and it's paid for. Would get you going again anyway, without having to do all your profiling by hand.

The only thing you can do is place a couple #26 bear traps just inside the trailer so when they step in they wont be leaving with 2 feet. I asked the cops if i could set a 440 conibear trap in the sliding window of my truck cuzz punks kept stealing my stereo he was like hell no . I said he wouldnt ever steal again . AND they are a humane trap.

Stan, I'll fix you up. Give me a shout. A thief is the lowest form of life!

Man that sucks...
But hey, in case the cop isn't motivated enough, tell the cop he can get the knife for free if he catches the perpetrator. :P

Yeah watch craigslist to see if someone is selling all the tools you had stolen, because chances are, if it's the same equipment, it's probably the thief. Also report all the stuff as stolen, so if he pawns it, the police will be right on him.

I got robbed in '97 and I am still hoping that the thief kills himself with the Baby Eagle 9mm he stole from me (my mini gun safe showed up in the mail the next day). They also took my knife collection and pocket watch collection and every backpack in the house. What a crap feeling to have someone violate your space.

Go to the NAWCC web page to report your stolen pocket watches. How many backpacks did you have? Backpacks are a curious thing for a thief to steal...I wonder if they were just used to help haul items out.

thanks for all the support guys, my dads work took him to alpine texas for work last week and he got back yesterday, he said if theres some extra after he gets new set of main tools and pays some bills, he'll get me a new grinder. until then im prolly gonna pay someone to cut it for me.

Don't remember what i lost, now 12 years later. they used the pack to haul all our crap out. 3 bachelors in a house and all our gadgets and goodies.

thanks to the generosity of David from greatlakes waterjet and bryan things are lookin up, it didnt look like they were gonna put much effort into trying to catch the guy, but i can hope that he gets his.

They not only stole your things...they stole your livelyhood. Im P----d for you. Did insurance cover anything?
