Thin bladed knives?

Melvin-Purvis is right on the money!

Full flat grind, thin blade ... That's a sweet combination. You can keep your 1/4" thick folders with the sabre grinds. You can keep your hollow grinds. But, please momma please, leave the SpeedTech for me!

For a nice "compromise" between that strength and thin blade you're referencing, you may wish to find a really thick blade with a deep, hollow grind.

I have not seen these thin bladed knives mentioned.

The Syderco Moran. One of the sharpest knives out of the box I have ever received. (VG-10)

I don't have the following, but Joe Talmadge swears by the Deer Hunter, which is good enough by me.
The A.G. Russell Deer Hunter, Bird & Trout, and without looking probably his Woodswalker. They also sell a fruit knife with a long relatively thin blade. When I get it sharp I'll see what I think.

You could probably get some boning knives out of your kitchen, other fillet knives, ...

Jazzman - I'll look into the Lum Chinese. Thanks.

This strategy works only up to a point. Its fine when you are trying only to slice through a thin layer of something - as for example in skinning, or you are cutting something that parts as it is cut like a thick rope under tension. But deep hollow grinds don't do so well in binding materials that tend to push themselves into the sides of the blade and have to be cut through. Examples are thick cardboard tubing, or cheese!

Every approach has a tradeoff...
