The Spyderco Endura is similar to the FeatherLite - plastic lightweight handles, lockback, one-hand opening, simiar price range, and relatively thin.

I haven't used one personally, but the Ka-Bar Dozier knives appear similar as well, and quite a bit less expensive.

Why not just buy the AG Russell?

I added some pictures of the Al Mar Falcon Ultralite with an Ipod shuffle for size and thickness reference.

Thanks RugbyMatt. Definitely a finalist.

I narrowed it down to:

Al Mar Falcon Ultralite
A.G. Russell First Production One Hand
Benchmade 530

Thanks for the help everyone.

I picked up a BM 875 Sentinel a while back, and really like the way it carries- very low profile clip and very thin and light- especially for such a large blade. Also have a mini dark star, g-10, blue titanium- its another very thin and light knife that carries well. Of the knives you have singled out, the Al Mar would be a very good choice. Don't know if this helps, my 10 cents worth:)

I have never been a fan of Spyderco designs. I already own a featherlite, and recently the blade has developed some play. I wanted a replacement edc, that gets very light use.. that I can throw in my pocket.

It definitely helps. I appreciate all the feedback you gentlemen give. I am serious noob and really like that you guys help out a noob.

RugbyMatt... difference between Hawk and Falcon is the size only right? Cause I would love the smaller Hawk if so.

Thanks again for the photos, really made my decision pretty easy.

I'll throw in my 2 cents for the BMade 530. It's thin, lightweight, and the AXIS makes it extremely quick to deploy.

Can anyone throw me a quick history about "Al Mar"? Good quality? Well known? FIrst time I am hearing about them. Thanks.

I have a couple of Shrikes, one g-10 the other micarta. They are very solid, the micarta version is one of the smoothest folders I have ever opened- like grease on glass. I don't own any of the ultralights; they may not be quite as smooth as a shrike or SERE but can't help but think they'd be a good choice, given yout parameters. Noticed you aren't a fan of spyderco, but the delica in vg-10 is both lightweight and very sharp. Came across one on the net in ZDP steel for $69- bet that thing will cut like a laser!

That is right. The Eagle is 5" closed, The Falcon is 4" closed and the Hawk is 3 3/8" closed. As far as quality I can only tell you my experience. I like my Falcon very much it seems well built and keeps a very nice edge. That being said it is a very thin knife and I use it for light duty use, and for use in the summer with shorts as it is very light and rides in the pocket so that it is hardly noticable. It also comes with a clip which is easily removable if you don't want it.

One more thing. There are many different variations of each of the three models, blade styles, handle materials, and such.

Awesome. Thanks for the insight. Very appreciated. I don't think I will buy a spyderco. Had a Wave endura, didn't like the shape, or handle at all.

I recomend the Ka-bar dozier folding hunter with aluminum handles and a D-2 blade. Also the ones with aus-8 and frn are a real steal at 20 bucks.

Got it. Thanks. I am definitely going with the Al Mar.

I googled but came up empty handed... who is Al Mar? All knives made in Japan?

How thick is the handle on a Fallkniven P ? When I last had one it seemed any slimmer it would disappear when turned on the edge! It also was hands down the sharpest thing I ever saw. scared me.
