Hi,

Looking for someone to thin out this M390 slipjoint behind the edge to make a better slicer. It already has a good 15dps edge but behind the edge is just too thick for my tastes. If anyone is familiar working with this steel and interested in such a task please let me know!

p.s. I'm not looking for a full blade regrind. I realise the costs of a regrind are close to or above the cost of the knife itself.

I did, I'm afraid the price was above that of the knife for a knife regrind. Not really worth it for me. Not doubting his value, a very friendly guy, just trying to find a simpler thinning behind the edge rather than entire blade regrind, paying more for a regrind than the cost of the knife doesn't make sense in this case.

I dunno then. Don't know many folks that regrind. Maybe some blade smith's might do it. M390 is a beast to grind with the belts most people use. So it's expensive and time consuming.

I've heard some folks line the belts with cbn paste or compound of some sorts to help, but Dunno who's actually doing that if at all.

You could probably get some diamond stones and do it yourself. But not sure how that would turn out tbo. Best of luck to ya.
