Thin, strong blade?

First of all, my objective: I want to experiment with breaking laminated auto glass by inserting the blade in the middle of the glass-plastic-glass sandwich and then prying until something gives. I am looking for a way to break out of a car with a side window that is open a few inches in an emergency. Ideally break the glass and not the blade. So I am looking for a blade that is thin and resistant to bending or breaking.

Any suggestions as to type of steel or a specific knife? I am not looking for the cheapest knife that might do the job, I am looking for a knife with the best chance of doing the job.

PS Yes, I know that I am opening myself to all kinds of ridiculous answers.

I think you're more opening yourself up to dying before you escape the car or being caught by the police before you break into the car.

Try this, it's pretty small and handy.

If you want to do that, just use Danke's doohickey.

How are you going to get a knife in there unless the window is open way more than a "few inches"?

try buying an actually pry tool not a knife ... the closest I know a Becker BK3 ...

Windshields are laminated, Most side windows are tempered unless laminated to reduce noise but that is uncommon. You will have no luck trying to pry your self out of a car trying to go thru a laminated windshied. laminated glass is used in impact windows in houses that are built along the coastal region. The think plastic layer between two panes of glass is meant to give not break. Glass might crack but wont fall away.

The video shows tempered glass and how it breaks. its mean to shatter in many small pieces to not cause life ending injuries.

It's not that uncommon and in a few years it will be mandatory on all new cars. You can enjoy tour quiet ride until some moron bureaucrat turns it into a glass coffin.

What will be mandatory? Laminated side windows?
