Thin tip knives performance?

Good point (no pun intended :D), I think it is not really a concern in the long run, how often is prying really necessary? Its more so that I like to know what it could do if the occasion arises. I just want reassurance that it can handle hard abuse in an emergency situation despite the very small chances of that occurring, plus not very practical.

Anyone have photos of the cabs spine and tip? So i can compare it to the axe hammer?

Just imagine your knife less one third of itself with a full flat grind and you are getting pretty close. I've whooped up on a .187" thick Jackhammer and only stabbing it into thick car glass gave me a slight blunting of the tip, and I do mean slight. Wood, sheetmetal, rock/brick, no issues.
Jackhammer is stage left in this pic.

Top of sticker in this one.

I liked the performance so much, I sent it in for a handle swap back in 2010, still have it too. :D

Thanks Tim
Sick photos :D

I know the axe hammer is maybe .5" longer blade, but what about the profile? Is it virtually the same as the jackhammer?
I am glad you were impressed with its performance.
I imagine the axe hammer would basically performance the same
..

Ahaha yes i know that :D
In relation to being alike i was meaning their tip size not the whole knife

One kind of translates to the other mate is the point I was making... like your Axe H vs a MOAB.

Oh okay
Well thats a good thing! I have only seen one photo and it looks exceptionally thin. But photos lie. I will have to wait and see when it arrives

It HAS a finer tip to some other Busses BUT you are not going to break it doing knife tasks mate, and many (such as stabbing a car bonnet to death ;) ) which are not. Lots or threads still to read mate, all the knowledge you seeks is but a search away :D :D

Cheers

Andy

Cheers Andy, appreciate the input. & and i agree completely, so much more to read and learn!

Somewhere in Busse sub-forum there is a pic of a TGLB that has been hammered into asphalt road surface and a pic of it after it was wiggled/pulled out. I think you should try to find it mate.

I have a convex ground AD that I used to try and pry out a section of wood that I've been trying to get through with hole saw. AD's blade flexed probably around 30 degrees before I decided to use my Rat Shaker to get the job done. There was no damage to either knife.

Yeah i have seen that. Pretty extraordinary. Really a picture that has to be seen to be believed. But isnt the tglb tip and spine fairly thick? Especially next to a BT6 or axe hammer or thefe alike.

But a AD that was used for prying is sure impressive if there was no damage done. Thats more like it!

You're not gonna have a drama with it mate. Unless you hammer it into a tree up to the ricasso and smash it sideways with a block splitter, it's going to handle whatever you give it.

And even if it does crap itself, Busse has you covered with their lifetime warranty.

Hahah...i am definitely not one to do that or anything consider "abuse" with exception to aggressive prying.

And yes you're absolutely right...can't break busse's warranty

.... which is not really abuse and which INFI (even THINFI) and SR101 has a wonderful history of soaking up and asking for more. Please don't loose sleep over it.

I wouldn't worry about it one bit... here's a video of an axe hammer getting used pretty hard. Checkout around the 2 minute mark ;)
