I'm not one that usually complains. But I just have to vent a little. I recently sold a knife to a subject and I'm not going to name any names. I gave the gentleman a good deal because he was in my profession and he really wanted this model knife so he said. I only asked if he decided to sell to give me a shot at getting it back. Well approximately 2days after the knife was received it was put up here for sale again for $110 more than what I sold it for. I'm all for a guy making a buck but Damn. Well I contacted the subject to see if I could get it back and he never responded to me. Poor business. I have always been a man of my word and guess I expect that from others... Thats all I have to say.

Such low integrity in such a close community won't get them very far. Yes, it belonged to them and they can do with it what they want (as has been pointed out many times in many other threads), but most people I have delt with or spoken with here seem to know the difference between right and wrong.

tacky people = tacky behavior, and that tackiness will generally be demonstrated in many aspects of their lives

I've had this happen to me on a couple of occasions, so that give me some experience to base my comments on. The first, a person can buy and sell whatever item they own at whatever price they see fit. Seems pretty cut and dry, right? The second, is that when these things happen it has a souring effect on the community, and soon all we see are inflated prices across the board on many knives. It's a circular effect.

A couple months back I remember all this talk about a TAD Dauntless folder, originally selling for $300 from their site. Seems like a reasonable price for a well built knife, etc. Some guy bought 3 of them, then turned around and flipped them here for over $500 each. Claiming, "Well, they weren't for me". Then why spend $900 under a grand and then pretend with the weakest testimony that you are "letting them go at a fair price." Seems a bit stupid. Just an observation, that is all.

What a drag. Unfortunately some are here just to make a buck.
On the flip side I've met a lot of lifetime friends through dealings here and I've sold at losses to see the same knife go for the same price I let it go for. Live and learn I suppose, chalk it up as one not to deal with anymore.

You should post the members name, so that he can't take advantage of another member in this manner.

I guess I have been very lucky then. I did a trade but I said I would ship first. When he received it he was to look at it and then decide if he wanted to trade. If not then just ship it back. I made it where he had to sign for it. We both where happy with the trades. I am seeing more and more about problems with trades or sales not going right. For that I am sad because I think this is the best talking site about knifes and other stuff. I hope it all works out for you.

Guys. I really enjoy this site very much and have had nothing but positive experiences over the years. I have got great deals and have corresponded with some very nice folks with common interest. My wife makes fun of me saying I need to go to KA (knives anonymous). The gentleman I dealt with has a very good feedback score and I wasn't looking to take that away from him. I'm just hoping that others might learn from this. I felt good about the sale and the person when we did the deal. I was Just very shocked to see it back up and no response when I tried to get it back. I see now he was probably just wanting to flip it so he could get something else. Well I'm gonna hop off my soap box and fondle some Knives. LOL... Ya'll have a great Xmass and be safe during the Holiday Season.

It wasn't hard to figure out who you were talking about. Another name for my ignore list.

Liu Kang did that sort of thing consistently before he was banned.

I think a person has a right to do what they want , They want to sell it for a few extra bucks. Fine. Its price gouging that pisses me off. I see it everywhere. Stinks that the OP wanted first crack at it if it went for sale but buyer probably had other motives.

To add to this type of behavior is a case that just happened on the Auto section. Guy posts up two blades. Another member calls I'll take it. Buyers accepts payment .. But wait. Better deal comes along and he kicks the first guys money back through PP. So ties up his cash and sells items for several hundred over asking.

Two people at fault on this one. Underhanded buyer knowing knives were spoken for and greedy seller. Freakin joke if you ask me.

I hope the OP posts this members name so others can choose whether or not they would like to do business with them...

Definitely shows this guy has low integrity, especially after you dropping your asking price. You didn't have to sell it at that price, but after finding some common ground, you were happy to help a 'friend' out. I would be a little ticked too, especially if the item sold quickly!

This is getting to be a problem, and is not what the interpretation of the rule "Seller can choose to whom he/she can sell to at their discretion". There has to be some integrity involved in these transactions. It's turning into a crapfest free for all. I would consider that as bad as people that flake on the buying end, malicious sellers. The rule is meant o be interpreted to mean that if someone doesn't want to sell to a known troll, knife flipper, etc. It gives them some freedom of movement.

In a different instance, I observed a member win a giveaway, only to sell the knife the next day. Yeah, it's not a big deal, but if you have no need for it; at least let someone that could put it to use get it. Low class.

If he agreed to sell it back to you at a specific price, then reneged on the agreement, then that is wrong.

If you just asked him to "give you a shot" and he didn't agree, then he can do what he wants, IMHO.

Although, if he played up the common profession angle and the "I really love this model" angle just to manipulate you, then that is sleazy.

I often buy knives because I think I can flip them, but I sure don't misrepresent myself to the seller in order to get a better deal.
Also, what I do in most cases is find insane deals (far below street price), and sell them for what I figure they're actually worth.
I'm not one of those guys who buys ZT 888s in bulk and sells them for 500%...

I say call the buyer out. I wouldn't what to deal with somebody who does something sleazy like that. Buying a knife to flip is pretty classless. I hate the idea of flipping when no work was involved altogether (I'm fine if something is bought, fixed, then resold). It screams low class.
