Gotta love the second vid, "We uuuuhhhh made need emergency surgery in the studio." The guy's saying how he's hurting and it seems like no one's doing anything. Gotta love it. Is that guy still doing that show?

I doubt that now there is no commercials like that or similar. And at that time it was quite a bit of very good knives around Loveless, Randal, BlackJack, Dozier... and many many other which cost fortunes this days. So it is not really difference between 80th and now. It is more about getting more educated in time on personal level.
