My mom, 89, is just about at the end. Only gets out of bed for meals and bathroom trips. Frequent bouts of dementia. My two sisters and I work shifts during the week to continue to care for her at home where she wants to remain. I travel the 125 miles to her house on Thursday Mornings and return home on Saturday. We have been doing this since around last Thanksgiving Day, and she has already lived much longer than was being predicted then. It is a grueling, tiring job. Note the days of my shift. Pretty much rules out Blade this year.

So my school teacher wife Kathy, who is my "enabler" for buying knives, volunteered to take my shift so Kim and I can go to Blade. Since this week was spring break, she used her time off to travel with me to get acquainted with what has to be done, feeding, medications, etc. This is the kind of thing I have had to put up with from her for nearly 39 years now.

You sir, are a very blessed man and the good thing is, you know it.

I think you made the right choice, she is a keeper for sure.

Yeah, keep her !

Mike, you and your family never cease to amaze me !

Like dobywon said, you're a blessed man.

Looking forward to seeing you and Kimbo in Atlanta

Blessings to you and your family, these are tough times. You did well in your choice of mates. If your ever interested in trades PM me!!!

Terrible, just terrible.;)

So ... Mike ... how, exactly, do you keep Kathy from 'getting out there' into the real world??:);)

All of the women in your family... just amazing, Mike. You are truly a lucky man.

You are doing the right thing for your mom and your wife is doing the right thing by you

Sounds like good people to me

God Bless and good luck with your mom

Those are some fine ladies in your life! Few and far between these days.

Consider yourself Blessed!

A good man deserves a good woman. Glad you found your soul mate. One day I hope to be just as lucky. Hope you have a great weekend.

agreed!

my mom just turned 83 but she is at my home and can do just about everything alone. i don't envy you. but God bless you.

That's awesome! You are a lucky man, and a good man for doing that for your mom and sisters. A lot of guys would say to put her in a home and not help. Bravo.

Always good to hear about the good ones. You hear so much negativity mostly.

My wife is definitely a keeper as well.

I wish I could have met a woman as nice as yours!! My soon to be ex-wife would kick me in the balls and then expect me to thank her.

As far as caring for your mother, I'll just echo what's been said all along: you are a saint. I know your mom is proud.
