All this needs to be split. Think the BK9 could get it done easy-peasy or should I take a different approach?

If it were me, I'm pretty sure my arm would wear out long before the knife did :p

Could it do it, sure. Could you?????? Would anyone with an ounce of sense use an ax or simiar? yeah.

I screwed up on the title. I have no idea how "Though" got in there.

that would be an excellent test for the BK9 and a great workout for you. if you have the time, i say do it!

p.s. if you do it, take pics and post them up.

I had a very hard time splitting wood last time I used an ax. Not sure I want to bother trying that again.

Sure thing!

Don't doubt the BK9 couldn't handle it but personally, I would rent a log splitter for a half-day. :D

If you attempt it I request a time lapse video :D

If you edit your OP and choose "Go advanced" you can change the thread title.

Get that sucker shaving sharp, accomplish the task at hand, then....try shaving with it!!!! If this "challenge" can be accomplished, then I will truly be a proud BK owner!! If it cannot...then I will swear off Becker for life=)

LOL, just kidding if you do in fact do it then please post pics afterwards. I would LOVE to see that poor knife taken to the limit!! (hopefully in one piece) also sounds like a good way to strip off the coating!!
Good luck!

YOu had a hard time with an ax and that a knife would be EASIER? Have you ever split a piece of wood that size batonning? Much more unless you need ax lessons.

I'm sure the BK9 could do it but I would get bored of that very quickly and the splitting axe would be out in short order.

As long as you have a very understanding Wife and have more time on your hands than you know what to do with and a good sharpening system then I say go fot it also - - - but your weekends are shot for the next 52 weekends - - period.! Have fun.

It would be like breaking rocks in prison

Pretty much! Except at least they let the prisoners use the right tool for the job! :D

In all seriousness, batoning wood is a small-scale emergency/camping skill. Not one for large splinting projects like this. Sounds to me like you need to examine the condition and design of the axe you have, and consider possibly getting a better one. Not to mention spending some extra time figuring out how to effectively use the tool.

This is why God invented hydraulics.

After you get done with that silliness, come over here and dig a swimming pool for me. I have a spork you can use.

Yeah, I bet a BK 9 would be fun for awhile, but if you have the cash, rent a splitter and get some beer for the time you have left over
