think these would work for grinder wheel?

FoxBat, I'd stay away from that type of wheel. I went down that road and they just aren't the quality you need for a contact wheel. The bearings in them are very low grade and they aren't turned true enough to run smoothly at any speed. I know contact wheels are expensive but when you consider your safety and the years of use you'll get out them, they're pretty cheap. They'll also pay for themselves with the first knife you make and sell.
Take care my friend!!

Get the Grizzly 10" or 8" wheels. You can order them from their parts department. If you need to, bore them or have them bored for whatever size bearings you're going to use.

The whole set-up was less than $100 on the 10" wheel. If you have a mill or lathe, you can do the bearings yourself. It's probably the best deal and they work like they're intended to. Stay safe.

you could buy one , cut it in half and use it for hand satin of hollow ground blades by clamping sandpaper to it. If shipping weren't so high , I would grab it just for that.
