thinking about a new edc - but is it pc?

I was wondering if anyone had any experience with the knife below. It is not a folder, but it is pretty non-descript, and I think it will be easy to conceal. I thought about either just dropping it in my front pocket, or maybe wearing it as a neck knife. I want to make sure I get something that doesn't put off my non-knife friends and colleagues too much.

The other big question I have is, for those of you that already own this beauty, how is it for a survival wilderness tool? It looks like it would baton really well, but the tip(s) look a bit fragile. This will be my main camping and hunting knife, as well as edc. I know no one knife can do everything, but this might come close, and in a way, it is more then one knife.

Also, I am a bit worried about keeping it sharp. I hear the factory edge pops hairs out of the box, but I am not sure of the quality of the steel (very high, though, no doubt), so would this be pretty easy to maintain on my spyderco sharpmaker?

I once had a coworker go all bugeyed and claim that I shouldn't be carrying my Kershaw Scallion because "it's a weapon". Ironic, since my job requires me to carry a gun. I wonder how she would have reacted to that!
 
I tried to walk into a Federal building once with one of those things.

They got real grumpy, for some reason.
 
Looks pretty utilitarian to these eyes, as for turning off non-knife lovers how can one not be impressed by the lines and design of this beauty. I might get one for myself:D

I've heard that's an excellent all-round survival knife, but it can be a bit tricky to baton. You have to hit your own arm to make it work properly. :D

The newer versions have a miniature MP3 player built in, that plays Danzig's "Twist of Cain" when you swing it.

I would say that would be a fine neck knife aslong as you don't plan on walking or bending over...it might come through your shirt a tad...or atleast your blood would...
I forgot to add that if your going to new your you could carry that instead of your battle axe...much more sheeple friendly...
 
Really looks lke it fills the hand. Its about time a bushcraft knife came out that is more comfortable than my bravo1. I love the carved skull, very professional. I hear the tolerances on that thing puts CR to shame
 
hey, i know. we can get Noos to destroy it as a test of just how destructible it is.

lets start to baton some two-by-fours with it.

eventually it will break if we jam it hard enough into some solid steel anvils or perhaps into the side of an aircraft carrier.

that could roll an edge first though. hmmmm...
 
Excellent choice. In a survival situation you're inevitably going to need to fondue, and I'm sure it would make a lovely fondue fork.
 
I think this one has everything you need... if you plan on fighting "The Predator"
 
While I'm sure the knife pictured would very well for your uses, I would suggest taking a look at the Spyderco Military.

It's tip is almost as pionty, the blade profile has a distal taper full height flat grind, and while it won't hold up like a fixed blade the liner lock is of the highest quality. Some people think the Military is a little big, so if you have smaller hands it might not be for you.
Either knife will work great, but IMO the Military is the ultimate utility EDC.
 
That is clearly too evil looking. Do they make one with a Hello Kitty face instead of the skull?
 
i love this knife! i edc two every day on holsters strapped to my thighs. you forgot that this knife works just like an axe if you lock your elbow and swing from the shoulder. oh and it is also the best throwing knife i have ever seen.
 
We all know that what you really want is a Sebenza. So just save your money a little longer and get one. Trying to get something that is cheaper will never get you the quality that you get from CRK.:D
