Thinking about buying a small Sebenza, need some convincing.

Considering how many Delicas you could buy for the cost of one Sebenza, I don't see how the Sebenza can be considered the better deal.

And if you happen to ever lose the knife or break the tip off by dropping it or something, the Delica is much cheaper to replace.

Good luck,
Allen.

My small regular has been great. But, be warned, the Sebenza is not the most overwhelming knife to behold looks-wise or even performance-wise initially. In fact, when I first got mine I was very very underwhelmed. Hype and my own expectations are probbaly to blame.

Longevity and fit and finish perfection are the Sebenzas traits. A delica has absolutely nothing on the Seb in this department.

But I'm lucky. I have and like both.

I too was underwhelmed with my large Classic, even after I got it back from Tom Mayo. But since it is my only folder, it got carried everyday and the more I used it, the better it worked. Sorta like a new 1911 after you put 500 rnds or so through it and it gets broken in and really starts to perform.

If you don't use it, you're never gonna like it. After about a year now of EDC, it is still my only folder, although I may get a small someday. Nothing else has even made me look twice.

I have owned probably 6 large sebbies over the years. I did not like them. I would sell them about as fast as I had bought them. Recently, I was "horse trading" with a friend of mine and traded into another large sebbie. I thought "great", now I gotta sell this thing.

My friend talked me into using it as an EDC for 1 month. That was 2 months ago. You could not take that sebbie from me!!!!

A couple of weeks ago. I was trading with this same friend and he had a new small sebbie. We have been friends for years, and if either one had a knife the other wanted to "try out" we would loan it for a couple of weeks. I could not talk him into that with his small sebbie for nothing. Of course, I had nothing he wanted to trade for it.

I have requested on BF to trade for one. I have also listed a number of good knives, in hopes of selling them to purchase one. Good Choice. Get the small sebenza. You will not be sorry. I will have one soon. David Farmer

Three weeks ago I got my hands on a small classic sebenza. I have only felt a better knife in the large one. It cuts like a dream, and the knife I got was a user. I only had to trade 6 knives and a teklok for it!! I would do it again, in a heartbeat. David

I picked the Small Classic over the Buck/Mayo when it came out. The extra money was well worth it for me. There is a very loyal following of the Buck/Mayo, so it has turned into a nice knife for alot of folks.

Same boat as many people here and in the same boat as the orginal poster -- "How can I justify $250-300 for a pocket knife?" Then I finally bit on the idea, and I found a LNIB Small classic Sebbie on eBay for "buy it now: $205" and I got it...never looked back. I am now down to ONE folder - my small Sebbie. I sold every other folder to afford (kind of a risk) and used those dollars to buy it. Glad that I did. I am now saving for either a Mnandi or a large sebbie...just another Sebenza. Don't have much interest in any other production folders...not that there are not some excellent ones out there - but I feel as if I have hit the standard...the GOLD standard (as they say in my industry) which is what everything else is measured against.

Good luck in your decision.

Same happen to me, once I bought a large Sebenza that was it, now all my other knives only help me to explained why the Sebenza is so good. At last I can walk into a knife store and not be tempted to buy anything, unless they carry CR knives.
