Thinking about buying my 1st Hinderer.

Hey, I'm exactly where you are right now....trying to figure out what and where to buy it. I'm in the lottery so maybe that will decide for me! Good luck with your decision. I'm about to sell 3 safe queens to buy 1 Hinderer user!

Wow thanks for the input guys. I'm going to pull the trigger today I think.
As for handsize thing, I have pretty big mitts. XL gloves and I feel they could be bigger. I've been EDCing a millie and it feels perfect for me.

as for size, i can recommend the 3,5". i had a 24, but it was just too big as an edc for me. the 3,5" is, for me, the perfect size. i'm planning on buying a 3", but i seriously doubt it will be caried more than the 3,5". the 3,5 is small enough for edc but still large enough for serious and hard cutting tasks if the need should arise. not saying by any means the 3" isnt, just that i do not have any experience with it. as for usefulness of the grind, i'm not sure i can agree with the slicer being more useful for edc. the spanto slices just fine and i can cut through phone-book paper. the slicer on my 24 was more like a butchers blade than anything else :p it was a massive blade. for handle finish it really depends on what yo like. i bought my 3,5" 8 months ago, i bought the last available 3,5" for 3-4 months so i'm glad I bought it, but it was sand blasted. I do like the fact that it shows wear, it gives it a particular charm, and every scratch reminds me of how it came there. also the sand blast is definitely more grippy than the stonewash. that being said, aesthetically i prefer the stonewash finish. the sand blast is quite hard to match with coloured scales.
in the end xm's are exceptional knives and really, you can't go wrong with any of them

What's a "mille"? Is that un o dem fuld-n kniVz w/ a big-o hole n da blade?:D

I'm just playing, not bashing.

Worst case scenario, if you don't like it, you have about 20 people in this thread that would want it in a heartbeat.

Hinderers are excellent knives, and the entire company (rick, rob, etc) are awesome people.

They're one of the best made/designed knives on the planet. I regret trading it even though the spanto grind didn't work for me, I like my knives to have some slicing ability (not that I was expecting an exceptional slicer, it was the only option they had when I ordered.

A friend showed me a ZT561, played with it a bit and I like it. So my friend said go get one. I said ok.
I went out and bought myself a XM18 3.5 Spanto Flipper. LOL

Sooooooooooooo???? Did you do it??

BenC appears you know how to make a decision! When the ZT 0560/0561 first came out they were very scarce and all the dealers had customers had to pre order, I said to myself although the ZT is a well made knife and a collaboration with Rick Hinderer my as well get the " real deal" while I wait. Never regretted that decision and it opened a whole new chapter in my knife acquisitions, usage, and interaction with the good folks from the " Ranch" and here on the Hinderer sub forums!

Hey Guys,

Congratulations. Having the 0550 and a XM-18 is definitely the way to go.:thumbup:

You mean stalking the mailman....

Nice, you'll love it, maybe get a hinderer tool, I had to tweak my pivot just a touch to get her to fly out nicely,
Yours might be fine the way it is thou. Congrats."..

I pulled the trigger today as well, should be in the mail Monday. Thanks for help AZ2AK. XM-18 3.5" Spanto....

Any fine cutlery shops in your area that will let you handle the knife?

Id suggest playing with one first.

your hands should tell you whether its worth the money or not.

Not to take this too far off topic but does anyone have any idea what the wait time would be in ordering a xm through Hinderern? Their web site says they will sell to first responders and military and I like their prices a lot more than what I've seen elsewhere.
