Thinking about different liners for my first folder.

I started working on my first friction folder last week and wanted some complex scales, so I combined Cocobolo with Black micarta, using OD green G10 liners and spacers between the materials. For some reason, the liners aren't binding well to the other materials and given that they won't be securely fastened against a tang and pinned in place like on a fixed blade, I'm seriously considering changing the liner material to metal. I imagine that would have less flex and would bind better to the wood and micarta.

My question is where to get some thin sheet metal/bar stock. I'd like a stainless or other silvery metal as opposed to copper or golden color. I'm thinking somewhere around 3/32" thickness? Surely no thicker than 1/8" or else we'll be getting some pretty serious heft on this thing. Anyone have experience with this scenario?

Thanks as always.

G10 likes to be really rough to stick. Elementfe made a suggestion of using a little of your epoxy to 'wet sand' in scales and steel together. I have been using this method and it seems to greatly increase the bond. No problems sticking G10 to other scale material before sticking it to the knife...

That sounds like a good idea. I abraded the G10 as well as the wood and micarta prior to gluing. (Using regular old two step epoxy) never thought to wet sand it like that. Definitely worth a shot. I'll see about the titanium and niobium too. Thanks!
