Thinking about getting a Bonnie hat...

[Lieutenant] "Soldier, You know danm well that I expect you to wear a cover when outdoors. What do you have to say for yourself?

[Soldier] "It was the damdest thing! I was walking toward the gate when I saw the sarge roaring up toward me on a tear."

[Lieutenant] "Yeah, you'd best get out of his way when he's like that."

[Soldier] "Believe me, I did. But he swerved toward me, reached out his window, and snatched my hat plumb off my head!"

[Lieutenant] "What!? I wondor what that was all about."

[Solider] "I dunno. I think he shouted something about his spooky pistol needing it."

[Lieutenant] "Remind me not to use a chin strap when I'm wearing my cav Stetson!"

:D FLIX

LOL Flix, if I could find one of my troops with a big melon I can probably get spooky a free one.;)

I have several boonies and other than the ones I was issued I get mine at the local military surplus store. Also called an Army/Navy Store. If you don't have one in or near you there are several on the internet. US Cavalry http://www.uscav.com/ or Brigade QM http://www.actiongear.com. I'm sure there are more out there.

Yeah, I loved my boonie hat. Lost it in the move out West and never pciked another one up, have to get one when I'm back in Nova Scotia. :D

Aye Spook, a bonnie hat would to do ye proud.

Check your local military surplus store if there are any. They usually have them really cheap, I just picked up one for $4.

OK, I have been to the on post Military Clothing Sales and off post to General Jackson's. Believe it or not they are in a brigade quartermaster package and cost 11.95, factor in shipping and you can probably just order it just as well. I am still trying to find a free one with no luck in the size you need.
Sorry, Chris

No problem, Chris! I appreciate you looking so hard. There was something else I was thinking of ordering off of campingsurvival, anyway!

Sadly, there are no military surplus stores anywhere near where I live (or else I'd probably be in deep(er) debt). Thanks for the suggestion though.

Took me long enough but I found you a hat in the size you need, drop me a line if you are still interested. Chris

AHHHH the good old boonie hat....i have worn the same old solid olive drab size 7 for almost 12 years now....faded? sure. all the black worn off the vent mesh? yip.
best damn hat i own....wear it all the time outside...its been snowed on, rained on, hailed on, soaked in lake water, submerged in salt water from two different oceans, sweat in, bled on, and used as a bandage once...still going strong....
god i love that hat....
i have thought about the more expensive styles but i cant imagine them being that much more useful to me.
i just will wear this same old hat till its plum wore out....i got 5 more waitin...(yip i said 5)

I have a nice cammo wool boonie from King of the Mountain if you are in a cold area. Toastie warm and it fits my giant dome

edited: just checked availability. OUCH... still available but very spendy. I got a deal on mine. Because it was so large nobody else would buy it from the dealer LMAO

I've got a Columbia Sportswear boonie that I picked up from Dicks Sporting Goods a few years ago, and I love it to death. Much classier looking than the typical military surplus boonie, and has all sorts of adjustment cords.
