Thinking about getting a Buck 110, should I?

The Buck 110 is so sturdy and well thought of that it is the standard that lockbacks
and many other knives are measured against. While there have been many, many
110's with broken tips over time that failure can be laid at the owners feet for using
the knife in the wrong way for the wrong job.

This is knife designed to cut flesh. A true "folding" hunting knife. It is a tribute to the
design that so many workman have worked the 110 in all the wrong ways and it still came
back for more.

Should there be a 110 in every collection......you bet. Keep in mind that Buck has documented
history of people killing bears with this knife and living to tell about it and it didn't fold up.
I'd say that's dependable enough.
 
el cid: Not sure what an ion-fusion model is. The blade was blackened.
Tightwad: Even if it was designed to cut flesh, it is generally perceived as an all around utility blade and should be able to stand up to some minor abuse.
 
Definitely go for the model with the titanium handle and the BG42 blade. The standard model shipped from the factory is as heavy as a boat anchor. The titanium handle would help a great bit, as I like the style of the knife. Go for the BG42 blade for sure. The standard steel is only so-so.
 
The 110s a quality, affordable, classic knife that can be classed up for some change. I had a finger-grooved model once which I gave away(not because I had any probs with it) so I don't have a 110 in my collection now..but I don't have a 30+ year old car either. Let us know what ya think when your knife arrives! :)
 
I think I'll order a Pete's soon.
BG-42, no finger grooves, no rivets, but I can't decide on the handle material, either smooth or natural water buffalo.
Can anyone tell me something about these 2; which looks nicer, does the smooth have streaks of white, or is it just jet black.

They should both have faint streaks of white, but every one is different, so you never know how much yours would have. Or not have.
