Thinking about getting a gray para2

I didn't care much for the gray color either, but I'm hanging on to it. I was shocked at how smooth the compression lock was on this one. My S90V version is still very sticky and murder on my thumb. Funny thing is I like that better. Gives me the impression it won't unlock at the wrong time. ;)

Yes, same here - it's funny. The gray 20CP is the smoothest-unlocking compression lock I've ever had.

I got a couple of the gray ones because I love them so much. The gray really grew on me and the steel is much better than S30v in edge retention, yet it's still easy to sharpen and touch up.

Btw, they are making other knives in this gray. The Caly 3.5 aogami (super blue) sprint for one, and iirc the lum tanto sprint is another.

I've tried dishing washing soap and toothbrush. Then I tried with a scoarchiing pad and soap. Someone suggested a magic eraser, I havnt got to the store yet to try it. I work at a plant nursery so my hands do get dirty from time to time. I've noticed myself wiping my hands on my pant leg before I pull out my para now. I have heard people complain about the foliage green with this its nothing like what happens with this gray

My Orange Manix 2 gets dirty looking after a week or so, I think it's that grippy g-10 that just holds it all in. I use a tough, lint free cloth and some water and a little windex and mine comes off pretty darn clean.

you could also try ajax and a tooth brush.

p.s. im trying to figure out a dye that will work well with this gray G10 (regular fabric dyes probably won't), when i figure something out i'll make a thread. i'm looking to dye the scales either dark blue or dark gray. worst case scenario, i'll swap the black scales from my regular para2 on to this sprint.

Let us know on the dye. I tried and concluded it wasn't happening well/easily. I think the real answer is scale-swapping, but you could try something like Dura-Coat, too.

Most regular dyes are good for natural materials, even nylon and polyester, but other synthetics like acrylics need special dyes. I have been doing some homework on dyeing different synthetic materials, I'll try to figure something out and I'll make thread if I'm successful.

Back on topic, I own two para2 20CP's. Ones a user, the other is NIB as backup in case anything happens to my user.

Hmmm. ;) For dying wood and leather, I use analine dyes that use alcohol as a solvent. They penetrate like crazy. I don't have any "normal" colors but they are available. That might very well be worth pursuing. I'd love to turn that gray some other color, for sure.

I'm working on either charcoal grey or dark blue. I don't think an alcohol based dye is going to penetrate the epoxy in G10, but I'll keep looking.

I love that knife, (Gray P2), so much I got three of them.

But it's the upcoming (next year) blue G10 M390 P2 that I'm worried about. It might turn out to be a great shade but if I don't like the color, I think I might try to swap the blades with my black G10 Para 2. I really don't know how hard or easy that might be or if it's even practical to do so.

You may be right. I can confirm that the water-based RIT dyes won't penetrate that gray G10.

magic eraser is the only way to go makes grey g10 brand new
