I've handled them before and found them thoroughly unimpressive although I can't fully appreciate a knife until I spend more time with it. I've been contemplating picking one up for a while now and I'm just not quite sure if I wanna fork over the dough for it. I am a huge Spyderco fan, my favorite is the manix 2. What do you guys think?

I had the manix 2 before my para 2, before i thought i would like the manix better. now that i have both the para 2 often kicks much more expensive knives out of my pocket.

Para2 rides 100X more comfortable in pocket and is much lighter. Also I prefer S30V to 154CM, but that's my preference. I'd say it's worth trying one out, you definitely love it more and more after carrying it for awhile. If you end up not liking it they go pretty fast on the exchange.

what didn't you like about the para2? what did you feel the knife was missing?

jimnolimit: It's not that I thought it was missing something I think it's just that all the hype surrounding this knife got to my head a little bit and I expected too much from it. It's really quite a simple design. There's no way that this many people can be wrong about the para 2 being a really good knife, so I think tomorrow I'm gonna pull the trigger and find out for myself.

the para2 is a really good knife, in fact i own 4 of them. but if it didn't impress you, there are other good choices out there. have you taken a look at the benchmade mini onslaught? i think if it as benchmade's para2

I have about 5 or 6 Para2's if that answers your question, sir. Mostly in super-steels, which can run into some bucks. But the basic PM2 in S30V is just fine, and many custom knifemakers use that steel a lot.

ben, if you buy the knife and end up not liking it, selling won't be too hard. or depending on where you get the knife from, you might be able to return if the knife is in original condition.

The para 2 is much more comfortable to carry. It's not as wide when closed so it takes up less space in my pocket and I prefer to carry it than my Manix 2 even though I am not a fan of S30V. I bought a Para 2 because I got it at a ridiculously low price and I was curious as to why it received so much incredible worship from just about everyone. Now that I have it..........Yes, it's a nice knife that has a nice blade and sturdy lock system that does grow on you but I still don't get why everyone treats it like it's the end all in knives. There are many knives very similar to it that get no love. Everyone interested in knives ends up with a Para 2. I'm sure sooner or later you will too.

It's not everyone's cup of tea but IMHO, the P2 is one of the best overall EDC's available today and an incredible value too boot.

I love my Para2! It takes me a while to sharpen it, but I am also a newbie so I have to work on my technique, but carry this all the time out of work, I don't want it to get all oily and greasy as I am an automotive mechanic and this is the one of the nicest knives I have the only other more than it is the Caly3 CFZDP189. I say get one and if you do not like it, you will have no problem selling it.

True I could return it from the place that I usually buy my knives from.

the para2 is one of my favorite EDC knives, i'm carrying my standard model in my pocket right now. but if it's not for you, another excellent EDC to look into is the spyderco caly 3.5.

$100, G10, S30V, flat grind, made in Colorado and has one of the most ingenious locks in the industry. Buy one and tell us what YOU think.

it's a good knife in any of the variants offered so it all boils down to one's preferences. i'm a non-owner and i'll tell you why:

1. when i first held one, i found it disappointingly small and light. i like to feel "a lot of knife" in my hand.
2. i already have a feel for my titanium military as edc.
3. i already have a delica and endura. these two fill out my home/edc cutting needs.
4. when i was younger, i used to tote 7-ounce buck 110 knives and flip 6-inch balisongs.

the para is just too dinky for me. make a new para with a 4-inch blade and i'll be interested.

I was totally unimpressed when I held one, but I decided to buy one and try it anyway because of all the hype. It quickly became my most carried knife. That was a pleasant surprise.
