Thinking about getting my CCW

With both eyes open, extend either hand with your thumb up like it is the front sight post. Sight on any target (wall switch, portrait, whatever), again, both eyes open. The close first one eye, then the other. The eye that is open when your thumb remains on the target is your dominant eye.

I am definitely left eye dominant then.

Another way to do it is this:

Hold both hands out in front of you at arm's length, palms facing forward and thumbs pointing at each other. Next, rotate your hands ~45º bringing your fingertips closer together, and bring your hands together, overlapping them to make a small sight "window" with the webs of your thumbs and index fingers. Focus this "window" on something off in the distance, and slowly bring your hands closer to your face. Whichever eye the "window" lands upon is your dominant eye.

^^^^ That's the other way I've read it. But I couldn't remember the particulars. And the thumb trick is pretty foolproof as well.

I THINK you can do the one-eye trick using your sight window, too.

Yeah, it should work.

Sig p320c, inside-the-waistband holster, holster made by yours truly :)

I carry a Sig p229, nice little shooter and compact enough. I've always felt that carrying a concealed fiream would help a legal defense in Ohio if a LEO ever decided to charge me for carrying a concealed knife. The knife is a tool, the gun is a weapon. Ohio knife laws are not great.

I am thinking that maybe something with a double stack mag would be nice. My only concern is if they are more cumbersome.

I like Sig. The P320 with a slim grip module is the most ergonomic polymer double-stack pistol to me. The P365 and P365XL are excellent subcompact guns that don't give up much capacity.

I prefer TT Gunleather and Milt Sparks for holsters, and Bigfoot Gun Belts for belts. I have literally never needed to buy another belt. I've owned several brands of gunbelt, but Bigfoot's steel-lined belts simply do not ever sag.

It depends on which models you get as to whether they're cumbersome.
Gen 4 and 5 Glocks are not cumbersome, and I generally wear a medium glove size. Beretta M92 and such are cumbersome. I can't get a proper grip. Similar for the SIG P226, 228, and 229 pistols.
Generally, the new SIGs (320), late model S&W M&Ps, and the Springfield Armory polymer pistols are not cumbersome.
Generally, though, this is not something you can look at or take someone else's word on. You need to pick them up yourself and see what they feel like.

And it really depends on the specific fun, regarding whether it's cumbersome or not. A double stack Glock, to me, is not more cumbersome on the belt than a single stack 1911. Material and design matters. With more modern designs and materials; the grip can be made of a thinner material (polymers vs metal), allowing for double stack mags in the same or similar grip size.

This is somewhat off topic. Hickok45 mentioned this guy and I dig it. Great points. I don't have much experience with handguns but his point about counting rounds (saving time) considering reloading is awesome. Really like his his straight to the point explanations and demonstrations.

Yeah, I've been watching Paul Harrell for a long time.
If you really want to get a kick, watch his video on the 10mm.
His videos on pump-shotguns was also quite good.

Will definitely check out more of his work. Really love his demeanor. I watched the 10 mm vs .45 ACP vid (There are a couple), is there one in particular? Will be checking out the pump vids for sure. First I gotta get my morning Hickok45 fix (He's doing vids daily this month).

The one that I'm talking about has him, near the end, right next to a watermelon. He's talking, with the G20 pointed to the side at the watermelon, across his body. All of a sudden, to make the point on the 10mm power, he pulls the trigger, and watermelon goes everywhere, all over him, and everything. Very funny.... but proves the point.

DUNNO if it was already said. But the best thing to do is go to the range. Handle so.e. the ones that feel good. Go shoot. Nut one size doesn't fit all. I usually edc my Cz Pcr. Hot days my Sig 938. If Im on a hike I take my Smith 686+ snub or G20. But my Pcr is easy carry on anything below 80s for me.
