thinking about getting my first emerson

Mini CQC-7, satin plain edge tanto. This is an awesome knife...very solidly built. My constant flicking and admiring of the blade is only punctuated by urges of "piercing" objects, like tin cans, with it...(only an urge though..can't bring myself to risk scratching the blade finish).

One question....I am thinking of having the blade re-profiled to decrease the angle. I do not have the tool nor the skill to do so. Any referrals for this kind of work?

Cheers,
LTN

i know it can be done on an edge pro, or with a good benchstone and some time, not sure who ya could get to do it though, it does make them very sharp when ya do this,

An EdgePro will do it nicely.

You can ask around here for someone who might do it for you...

Also, I've heard that Ben Dale (owner of EdgePro) will do it -- he'll sharpen and reprofile a knife as a demonstration of the EP system if you send it to him.

You might try that... you'll be convinced to buy one. ;)

Ask Crayola. The CQC7s are one of the knives he could get the sharpest edge on. Remember, chisel ground= either lap the back of the knife flat (no microbevel on the flat side) or kiss the burr (creates microbevel after a while, but preserves finish)

I bought a mini cqc7 black T coated plain edge about a year ago,but I ended up sending it back. The materials used are top notch, but the fit and finish if all the parts were crude at best,at leat too crude for the steep asking price.I also had a problem with the "thumb disk" loosening up on me,and there was excessive side to side play between handles and blade. Seemed to lock up OK though. :( Trust me,if you want a CQC7 try and track down a benchmade version,it is honestly ten times the knife the emerson version is.

Problem with the Benchmade version is that the body screws tap directly into G10 insteaad of the Ti liners, IIRC.
