OK, so iv searched alot here and on the net and iv seen alot of stuff about microtech, some good and some bad. I see that everyone pretty much loves their microtech knives so this is a big plus. But i read many many horror stories of their customer service and getting knives fixed or parts sent out or with some guys never even seeing their knife again after sending it in. I bought my chick some awesome cowboy boots for our 4 years anniversary so shes gonna hook me up with something of equal value, naturally im gettin a new blade. Iv seem people say that their brand new, out of box knife come with no pocket clip or screws and it taking microtech severl time and many months to get the correct parts to you, if your lucky enough to ever get them. Most of this info seems to be a bit dated so im wondering, has anything changed with their customer service? If not ill just look into getting a pro tech, sebenza, bradley or something else. That is unless i can find one in town that i can fondle before a purchase, but thats a long shot.

Also, im not sure if this is the correct forum for this post. If not, mods please move and message me of the new location? I can never find posts after they are moved. Thanks!

I have had to get screws from microtech before. They shipped them to me within the week. Microtechs are top notch products in my opinion . Just if you were wondering only reason I had to get screws was because I'm a curious person who can't leave a knife in one piece and lost a screw.

Well thats good to hear. If i end up with one ill probably request to purchase spare parts right off the bat so that wen i need them i will have them and not have to wait. Im just worried it wont come complete when new lol. Im thinking about a 2012 socom elite in OD green with stonewashed blade. I dont think much could be wrong other than missing parts. I havent seen anything negative about the f&f of the knives themselves, only good stuff.

This topic seems like it would benefit more from being in General Knife Discussion. This particular section (Feedback) is more for discussing experiences with stores, private sellers and buyers, etc. I will move this over.

I wouldn't worry about missing parts . I know that if you do have issues there is at least one microtech dealer on the forums that seems to help out a lot of people. (gte217e) I have never dealt with him personally but have read his post's seems like a legit guy. Anyways try to think positive or you might just jinx your self ;) good luck on what ever you choose to get.

My two cents are that there are so many more reputable producers of knives out there that I wouldn't buy Microtechs at half price. If you want a side opening auto then look into ProTech. They are a top notch company.

I personally think that Microtech is overpriced. I have also heard that their customer service is pretty bad. Depending on how much money you are spending, you might be happier with a custom knife. I wouldn't buy a Microtech, but Jack Bauer sure thinks they are swell.

Also, is your apostrophe key broken?

That made my day.

As to Microtech, I would fall into the "something else" category. I care about companies practices as much as their knives (or any other product).

Microtech is a design thief. They, as a company have no morals. If you gave me a Microtech, I would sell it to a Microtech fan boy, then spend the money on farm fresh hog poop. I would then package it up, and send it to the owner of Microtech, signature required, insured for the full amount. (OK, I would not really do this, I would probably give it to some one who did not care a lick about morals, or maybe sell it, and donate the money to a worthy cause......like Intellectual Property Thieves Anonymous).

By most accounts Microtech makes a very good knife, but the way they treat their customers as well as peers within the knife industry is laughable. It is a well know fact that their customer service is garbage, and the 0777/Matrix thing is absolutely despicable. Everyone in the knife community, including the folks at Microtech know about their reputation for questionable morals, and yet they do nothing to change or make it right. To me that sounds like a company that just doesn't care about anything but $$$, and that is not the type of knife company I wish to support.

It's going to be either a hit or miss experience with your first buy. Your either going to get lucky and get a quality blade and be happy, or your going to get a lemon and be mad as hell you forked over so much cash for a piece of sh....

If you can't accept the risk or minimize it, (ie. hand pick it yourself) then buy something else

There are plenty of MT haters on this forum and they have their reasons. I don't get involved with the whole Matrix deal because it's been/being handled. I currently have two MTs (a Socom Elite and a Select Fire) and am very happy with them. I also have a Socom Delta on order. I have owned a couple of their otfs as well, both of which were top notch. If you like the looks of the MT you're looking at, go for it. You'll like it. Their knives are not hit or miss but like any company, sonetimes a bad one gets through. Few and far between though.

As for their cs, I had to call them one time for something and the lady was very courteous and helpful. Never had to send anything back or get anything from them.

I have one MT knife - an Ultratech - and it is fine. As to the ZT-0777/Matrix debacle, I love my ZTs, but I must say - I've seen/fondled a MT Matrix at a local enabler... anyone have a ZT-0777? Nope... they still aren't out yet. It's been so long since it was introduced, I had forgotten what the 0777 looked like!

My one observation re my Ultratech... I am glad I bought mine locally - and could peruse the stock before selecting mine!

I want a Microtech, but won't buy from a company whose quality control and customer service is at best "hit or miss". Thats ridiculous. If we all voted with our dollars - by not buying Microtechs - maybe we could change the way they do business, which would be good for them and good for us.

I love my Ultratech and it's a keeper. The quality is outstanding and I have had no problems at all.
Forget the polytics and if you want to get a Microtech, get one!

If you decide to buy Microtech, buy from a reputable dealer.
I've had no luck contacting Microtech's customer service directly.

You're not the grammar/spelling police. Give it a break.

I just purchased my first Microtech, the Socom Delta which is similar to their flagship the Socom Elite. Instead the Delta has G10 instead of aluminum, sports a tanto blade, and has a "sub" frame-lock along with a few more minor details.

The fit and finish was excellent, approaching custom quality. I'd say give either the Delta or Elite a try!

I have had 2 Whalesharks, a custom and one production. No issues with either of them.

Well, im going to a firearm store here in Houston where I hear they have quite a few of high end knives. Hopefully they have some in stock. And I really want the carbon fiber model because it comes with a new glass breaker. I keep seeing that the grip tape models have a longer, pointier glass breaker and it gets loose and rattles. Thanks for the input guys!
