Thinking about trying a Mora

I’m just looking for something relatively cheap I can use around the house, on the boat, etc. I actually like the plastic sheath, it seems like it would be a great knife to carry as I usually wear overalls.

Am I on the right track or do you guys have some others I should look at?

Thanks!

Look at the PUUKKO as well. I tend to carry a large folder instead of a small fixed blade; the net effect is about equal but for me the folder is easier to carry. If you get a Mora, you will have a good knife.

It's cheap. What's there to think about? Just get one.

Wanna go for a little more? Try the Terävä Jääkäripuukko from Varusteleka. It's a very strong knife in great steel with great HT, all for under $50 (but the sheath will cost extra).

How can you go wrong with a basic stainless Mora @around $10. We keep a bunch of them stashed in all the vehicles, fishing bags, hunting bags, boat box, yard shed, etc... For around double the price I got a nice heavy duty carbon steel one too, pictured below. Just get one and don’t give it a second thought, you will be happy with it.

Mora Companion, including plastic sheath, permanently inserted into an ebay auction sheath. About £25 all together.
