keith I love your salute to our heroes. And the fact that you are Candadian makes it go right to my heart. I am so happy that we share the same heroes. God Bless you and your people as well as our British Allies.
A carbon steel bladed slipjoint with a celluliod handle. Had a picture of a Canadian Mountie on it. Cost around $8 in 1974. Y'know it almost brings a tear to the eye to remember that little guy. Carried it everywhere for years some co-worker walked off with it in the 80's.
My first knife was when I was about 7?. My parents gave a boy scout knife (can't remember the brand) that lasted me about 3 years. My next knife was a WWII dagger that my grandfather gave me. The main thing I remember was the name on it...Sykes Fairbairn...I used it for fishing while living in Florida and ended up losing it while surf fishing. The ignorance of youth...
My first pocket knife was a slip joint with one clip point blade and some kind of plastic artificial stag scales that I found in a junk drawer at age 7. I have no idea the make or model. I was fascinated and couldn't believe that nobody else wanted it, so I could keep it. It's really too bad that it got lost somewhere along the way.
