Thinking of bidding!

Joe? I'm not sure who he is?? If he's the seller, I have a question in, but no response yet.

Thanks Codger! Any other opinions out there??

Did you notice that the Schrade on the bolsters is upside down on one side?

Paul

Good observation on the upside-down bolster -- that would give me pause...

Well I see it went for $100. Too rich for my blood. Anyone here get it?

Dave

P.S. Delayed reaction on the bolster thing. I have the 70th anniversary commemorative, a 280 pattern daddy barlow like the subject knife, but with staglon handles. It has the printing the same way. I guess as long as the bolster is on your right, you can read "Schrade"...

That was me, petering out at $91:grumpy: ! Pretty cool though, to see two identical bids separated by a few seconds!! First one wins:eek: :D !

The feedback and opinions were much appreciated. That was a beauty of a knife. I hope another one comes up soon. Serious low bidders remorse here:( !

Thanks redshanks! How'd I miss that??
The fun begins again!

I've had a few Imperials through the years that were that way.

Now that you mention it, I guess it's pretty common. I just noticed that the Ulster Old timer, I*XL, Imperial Diamond Edge, Colonial, and Russell (Schrade contract) are that way. Buck and Kutmaster are the other way. Boker has printing oriented so you hold the bolster straight up to read it. And of course many barlows have printing on only one side or no printing at all.

OK, I guess I need to get a life... ;)

Yeah, I have to admit these little factoids tickle me. Nobody but knife nuts would understand though...

Gday from australia
RIP Steve Irwin
& now my question.
I was on ebay
& looking at a couple of Schrade (from the factory after the doors closed )lock knives . Blue bone handled & a stag handled one . Hey they look great. I was interested in them to keep & give to my young sons when they are old enough to appreciate. This will not be for many years.
Are these genuine Schrade knives or not - they look great in the pictures (big deal) & are they worth buying at $100 US (approx)?? can anyone help?
cheers.

Welcome to the forum, Meako. Yes RIP Steve Irwin. One of my favorite people in the world. (was)

there are a lot of people on here to help with your question, but we/they will need the ebay item numbers inorder to look at the knives and render an opinion for you.

Paul

Hi -thanks for the speedy response.
Since reading the forum I have gianed a couple of insights on how to spot fakery. I've re read the ad & there is no mention of "made in China" (how the hell do the Chinese make stuff so cheap?) . the vendor also goes into great length about history of schrade & the knives he is selling . At this stage I think hes fair dinkum. I would certainly appreciate ANY feedback on this as I'm only a poor Firie & do not like to get ripped off.
