Well.. perhaps you should help the nice people out a little and give us an idea of the uses for this blade? what do you do with your EDC? what exactly is your price range?

A horseman is a good knife, very utilitarian, and in my opinion really good looking.

My A100 is the only folder I would trust in darn near any situation, simple construction thats built tough in the right areas, opens silky smooth and locks up strong. This is after months of very hard use, heck this is a knife that I've used to chisel out doors for lock sets, split up kindling, and cut through carbon fiber and fiberglass boat hulls.

If you want something thats going to cut like a laser, and be a nice light urban edc I don't know if the horseman is the way to go, there are better cutters out there like the delica. But IMO Emersons are very much worth their cost, and make excellent "One knife sets" if I needed to get rid of all my knives except one I would keep the A100.

sorry thought the knife spoke for itself from light EDC uses cutting paper cardboard etc to some outdoor uses light wood etc for fire starting just want to carry 1 knife instead of 2-3 different ones basically want one that can do it all so to speak my benchmade has served me well just time for a new knife as far as price 150-175 tops pretty much i fell if i spend more than that i will not want to use it

ok so the thread make me think buy a different knife with better steel s30v aus8 etc but WHICH knife?? suggestions people hard EDC use knife up to 150-75

Spend an extra 25 and get a ZT550 or DPx HEST/F or Combative Edge M1 (you'll thank me later)

edit trying to keep the weight to about 4-5 oz max ZT weighs like 8-9 oz wayyyyy too heavy IMO

The Horseman is a great knife, but there are much better options available for that price range. You seem to value aesthetics over performance, while that is your choice I do not agree that knife is the best option for your stated needs. EK seems to run their 154CM a little on the soft side, it does not hold an edge nearly as well as other options.

I prefer spending my money on something that I won't have to sharpen every day. It is unfortunate that you are so firmly against having Spyderco as an option. You would be amazed at the performance you get for the price. As far as those knives you listed as being too heavy, I do not agree. How can a knife that weighs 4-6 ounces, clipped to a pocket is considered "heavy". If that is heavy, one might consider spending less time online and more time in a gym. YMMV.

interesting viewpoint .. its not that i value form over function. as i have posted before and in my replies i OWN several spydercos and benchmades and even emersons i have 100+ folders. One of my possible EDC choices was a Spyderco Centofante 3 so i dont hate spydercos i just have too many already. As for emersons needing sharpening i agree my cqc7 and sark both seem to need sharpening more often (also could be im beating on them more) As for the 4-5 oz weight ..i really dont want to FEEL my pocket knife who wants to carry a brick in their pants.. I dont know about you but im already carrying a full wallet a decent amount of keys a flashlight and a friggin smartphone ..I think most would agree that your EDC should not be more of a burden than necessary.I carry about 40 lbs of crap when on duty (NYPD) and when im off duty i rarely carry a sidearm simply because 1. its not necessary where i live (suburbs) and 2. its excess weight... btw i workout 6 days a week and i am far far from out of shape but ty for caring :)

I apologize for taking thread OT, but this was absolutely shocking to me. I was going to offer advice on Edc, but after reading that, my opinion would prob mean nothing to you.

why is this? I work in one of the worst precincts in Brooklyn and its refreshing to live in a nice area on the water on Long Island where i dont even really need to lock my doors. The need to carry a gun in my neighborhood is borderline silly. I have had the same neighbors since i was born, lived there my entire life, and there has NEVER been a burglary murder or even violent crime other than the occasional kids messing around. My town is 1 square mile and my father was the fire chief and mailman..The lady at the bank in the morning works at the supermarket in the afternoon. I like to carry a knife since my father instilled it in my as a child taking me to gun and knife shows. I do hunt and i also use Bows not guns to hunt. I have no problems with carrying i just choose not to unless im going towards the city limits.I like guns i own 2 glocks a sig sauer several shotguns and a rifle or 2.. I enjoy my freedom by not living in fear and honestly i feel drawing a gun in a situation where my family might be involed could bring more collateral dmg than just being compliant

back on topic i am pretty sure i have it narrowed down to 2cheaper knives (that way i can just EDC and not worry about it being too nice to beat on)

a Spyderco Centofante 3

And a CRKT M21-02 Aluminum plain edge

both have excellent reviews and i watched video reviews as well i figure i will beat on them and wait for the new ESEE knives to come out for an expensive folder..

Understood. However, the case has more often than not regarding complaints with "heavy EDC" choices are related to a silly youtube influenced "4 ounce rule". It makes me wonder everytime I see that (unless there is a physical condition present that prevents using a substantial folder). I agree no one wants a brick on their pocket, it comes down to personal p[reference I guess. Airlight vs sturdy.

My EDC consists of a wallet, flashlight, Leatherman Supertool 300, and a large folder. Luckily, AZ has very relaxed restrictions on CCW items. It is like the "Old West" in some ways. I commend you for your vast selection of knives. Variety is a good thing, especially when it comes to having the right tool for the job.

Look into the Cold Steel AL or Recon 1 knives. Very strong folders, sort of on the large side though. Al Mar has some light weight knives too. As for Emersons, I would really like to try the Gentleman Jim. That knife just does something for me, looks like an excellent design. Good Luck in your search. :D

The Centofante is a nice little knife, quite light with good ergonomics. It has a nice thin blade so it's a good slicer. If you want a mid-sized folder which is light-weight and a good slicer, then the C3 is a good choice.

It has decent steel (VG-10). It isn't for any kind of hard use, IMO, but for light EDC, it's a good choice.

LOL i forgot i carry a leatherman also :) yeah i have a bunch of bigger folders and i used to carry heavier emersons and benchmades i like the styling of the horseman but honestly i have 4 other knives that are very similar im pretty sold on the CF 3 just for a change of pace since off duty im opening UPS boxes and cutting little things on duty i carry either my sog trident benchmade stryker or cqc if i ever got to the point where my gun 2 batons and pepper spray werent enough at least ill still have a knife (lets hope i never get there)
