Thinking of getting a Bussekin knife

I have a dc finish with black g10 in the cart. What’s the difference between competition and dc finish?
Consider "Competition Finish" as a medium machined finish. You'll see machining marks, but it's a good finish... Cosmetically aesthetically inferior to full satin, but Will never hold back a working knife. DC stands for Double Cut - a two stage fine beadblasted finish.
Each have their strengths; both good finished depending on what you want.
I find one finish more attractive on some models than another. Just depends.

Top to bottom, stripped hr1, db-321, coated tgulb, band dc hr2.

I like the balance of the hell razors more. The handle of the hr2 works MUCH better for my hand. I have used it skinning hogs. A little big for the job, but it really shined during the breakdown of the hog, and was a family favorite.

The db-321 is a chopper in hand hand. Not had time to love on it.

Team Gemini I got in a deal with a ak47. I might strip it and make it a backup knife or leave it alone. It just doesn't do much for me tbh.
The hr2 on the bottom has the big dc finish. I like it more then the comp finish personally.

The scrap yard knives come with pretty good leather sheaths.

Otherwise, brown makes kydex, there is a a leather sheath brand somewhere on here that starts with a. Azula?? For sheaths it's whatever tickles your fancy. Busse kin don't care.

The TGULB is a fantastic knife. The HR2 is good, and probably more bomb-proof because it's thicker, but I reach for the TGULB almost every time. It's lighter and does what I need fantastically on my hiking and camping trips.

The mega grind is cool. Especially if you want a chopper. For me tho, too thick and heavy for carrying. The mega RMD though, is nice... As are the Mega Warden. So, I guess I like the mega treatment on smaller knives, but it's too much for me on larger knives.

Which one is more durable?

I have a few capable choppers, the tgulb is more of an all around knife

Tough choices abound. I’d go TGLB and kydex. But that’s me, and I no longer hunt, or do much camping. Age and laziness.

TG series feels better balanced in my hand. And kydex for durability and ease of cleaning.

Get one of each and keep the one you prefer. Which will be both of them. Good luck.

I’m not the best to explain some differences, but I’ll try. DC finish is bead blasted. It looks cleaner at first, but will scratch lose that esthetic edge with use. If you have a bead blasting cabinet, it’s very easy to maintain. If you want to put in the time to polish to a satin finish, DC is where you want to start. Competition is more of a rough use finish. That’s how I view it, at least. It’s not as refined as a satin finish (which is my favorite). Machine marks are visible, so scratches are somewhat camouflaged. Really, you can’t go wrong with either. As for kydex or leather, it will be personal preference. Leather takes some maintenance, kydex doesn’t. You “”could potentially“” cut through a leather sheath, or stab yourself if you fall on it wrong. Those are less likely or impossible with kydex. Here’s a pic of mine in an Azula leather sheath, and the one I sent my friend with a Buy Brow kydex sheath.

Which one is more durable?
Both made of INFI... HR2 is thicker. So on an absolute level, HR2 is definitely more durable.

But the question is: how durable do you need it?

The TGULB is no such. I feel confident it will out-endure a Becker of similar length, even if it was thicker.

For me, I don't need the extra apocalypse-proof durability for my use. However, YMMV, and one knife might for your ergos better, or your use may necessitate the extra strength from the thicker blade of the HR2... Or the Mega Ratweiler!

Honestly tho, you can't go wrong... Both good knives! It's a Busse.

ScoMa, I think you swayed my decision. I will be purchasing a team Gemini because of your story about gifting your best friend (awesome gesture by the way) with this knife. Thanks to you and everyone else who helped in this thread.

Well, not to throw a wrench into your plans, but I also gifted my brother-in-law a Hell Razor 2, and he also loves and abuses it…….

realistically you wont see much a difference in durability from .220" stock on a tgulb vs a HR2 .25" stock.

Tgulb is a great first buy, tglbs are similar just slightly heavier but some people prefer it.

Sheaths are going to be all preference, kydex if you dont want to worry about it, leather if you like leather. Nylon spec ops if you like nylon. Saw some being made out of pvc pipes melted with a heat gun if you just need something that works
