I have acummulated some fun money and have been eyeballing a HEST 2.0 Folder . I love the looks/design and was wondering if they ironed out all the problems from the first and if they're a good purchase vs. other competitive options. I know the drama that unfolded but I keep it separate. So, any ideas? or :thumbdn:?

Mine just came in a few days ago and it's perfect. 50% lockup and solid as rock, it's broken in now and the lockbar hasn't moved a bit. It came very well ground and phonebook paper cutting sharp, like my HEFT 6. With the 15% off coupon I got on it, I don't think there's a better deal out there. Don't let the horror stories scare you off; DPx apparently has fantastic customer service.

I have a sterile limited edition Hest/F , a Mr. DP limited edition Hest/F, a standard Hest/F v2.0, and an original Hest fixed blade (Rowen built) ... I can vouch for DPx customer service, they went the extra mile getting me taken care of when I had issues with my Hest/F. Long story short, they hand built me a replacement for my limited edition Mr. DP Hest/F. You can buy with confidence that DPx will have your back and make you whole IF you have any issues happen with your blade... for me, the peace of mind that comes with the DPx warranty makes them a very good buy.

I got one a few weeks ago. It took a little breaking in, but it is solid without the blade play issues that I feared. It's unique, and if you like the materials, blade shape and weight (which is a little hefty for a small blade), you'll probably like it.

Personally, I think the Hest 2.0 is an awesome knife. I've had one for about 8 months. I picked up a ZT561 and a ZT550 last month and they're incredible knives, but I think I like the Hest 2.0 just a little better b/c of its size. It's slimmer than the 550 and a lot smaller than the 561 (i.e. it rides better for edc). It feels super tough - especially w/ that lock mechanism that prevents the lock bar from moving when engaged. Can't say I've used any of them enough to justify their toughness, but they certainly feel strong.

I'd say to go for it. I don't think you'll be unhappy. Even if you did end up not digging it too much, you'd be able to sell it easily for minimal loss.

Excellent knife. Strong, very well made, comfortable and very sharp, right out of the box.
I bought one as an EDC, and purchased a second one shortly thereafter for my collection.

If you buy one, you won't regret it...

probably one of the most underrated knives out there, mostly due to RYP being horrible with PR on here, but the knife itself is solid

Once they got over that first run confusion, they have had a good rep, as the guys said here: good knife, good service. They will take care of you. I was impressed with the turnaround.

Yeah, he got caught up in marketing and it just wasn't his style, he over-hyped his life. :D
Once he set up a good team and let them do the job, bingo!

Do you have any personal experience with them? They look absolutely awesome, but I just wanted to make sure the fitment was solid before buying one.

I do not but I do have one being shipped to me as we speak (blue) so I will be able to tell you one of these days!

I have also looked at the ZT550 but lean a little to the HEST. Even though I know it probably doesn't slice well how does it slice from say 1-10. As this would be used as an hard EDC blade and slicing isn't its specialty and I fully know that.

This is one of their non-glowing scales. It fit like a charm and looks damn good. Good guy to deal with too. I love my 2.0, it feels smaller than it is when it's in my pocket. It's my main edc as of right now and gets a good bit of pocket time. The ergos are good, it is rough and tough and good looking. And it's made by Lionsteel, so you can't really go wrong there.

Yeah, yeah, neat knife. I've had my DPX Hest/f 2.0 for a month or two. Works great - nice knife - hefty (stout) and sharp. But... none of the pundits give you the whole story. Sure, it's a really cool knife - what clever attributes - but you're going to see that 'Lionsteel Made in Italy' on the inside of the back spacer eventually... then what? I'll tell you... you'll find Lionsteel at the 'Blade Show' Saturday - and spend almost every cent you have to buy an SR-1, that's what you'll do.

Sigh. I listened to folks re the ZT-0551... great knife - I bought a spare because I liked it so much. Then, I had to have a ZT-0561 - nice - grows on you - still like the 0551 better. My wife shocked me with a Kershaw SW 'Tilt!' - nice. I still like the 0551 a tad better. For that matter, I like the Hest/f 2.0 better than the SR-1. I don't regret the other knife purchases - my roof isn't that bad. I sure could have saved moola had I just bought the 0551 - or the Hest/f 2.0. You'll love it... give it a chance to break-in. But... be apprised - it's like a gateway drug to an addict... there will be more knives...

Stainz

Stainz, you're right. But I'm waiting for the smaller version of the SR-1, if it ever gets released.
