Thinking of Spyderco Byrd

I can say they aren't the same quality of Spyderco's more expensive knives, but they're getting pretty darn close, go for it.

I use a Byrd Flight G-10, and have been very pleased with it overall. I never see this model mentioned, but I like it. I wish the handle was more rounded on the blade end, but it is comfortable in use.
I bought a Robin G-10 for my teenage daughter, which she loves.

I now have four byrd knives: stainless Flight, Meadowlark rescue, Cara Cara rescue, and Crossbill. All look to be of good quality. I have made the Meadowlark my EDC carry as I realize in looking back how I have used EDC knives, that I have never really used my old Kershaw to stab/poke/pry/etc. Just slicing and sawing. The "rescue knives" are perfect for that, and the Syperdco knives are very sharp and up to the job so far. By the way, the all stainless Flight is one sturdy knife. Not as sharp out of the box as it could be, but built like a mini-tank.

By the way, I think my next purchase will be a Sypderco Police--I have become a fan of knives with alot of serrated edge along the blade. The entire Sypderco line is really growing on me. My wife (who told me to get a hobby so I picked knives) really likes them also. I think she likes how light they are and the bird name themes.

I have four Byrd knives: 2 cara-cara's, and 2 Hawkbills. All four are solid constructed budget knives. Its one of the few cheap brands that I don't mind recommending to my non-knife friends.

I have used them for EDC and I don't have to worry about losing or loaning them out.

Hmm just a question ( I do have a small hunch but I make this sure )
Spyderco Byrd Robin costs 39€ I get same place Benchmade Mini-Pika II 39€ so price is identical. Should I buy Benchmade over Byrd at same price? I've never had Benchmade knife so it would be nice to have one...

I currently have a SS Crossbill and I really like the knife but I do not use it all that much and I want a Caly 3 so I am selling the Crossbill to my brother because he likes the knife but it is a solid knife and I would not hesitate to buy one again but in the G-10 version. I do not have experience with the named Byrd's but the whole Byrd line is of great quality from what I can tell with the few that I have handled and the one that I own.

It seems Byrd is excellent value. Benchmade is name to recon with. I make small correction: Robin is 35€, Meadowlark 39€ from Byrd and Benchmade Mini Pika II is 39€. Its damn hard to decide... Perhaps I should get both Robin and Mini Pika II?
