Thinking of taking the plunge. Recommendations?

Follow your heart and pick the one you like the most. But have you been able to check any out in person yet, this would probably give you a better idea as to which one would work best for you.

I think it's going to be a plain small 21 drop point. I don't think I have any dealers nearby, but they seem to be easy to resell worst case.

I am in a similar boat... I have been lusting for a 21 or StarBenza 21 for ages and now, with the changes (for the better !!!) to the import laws here in Australia I am going to scoop one up ... :D

Great choice.

Were you able to find the dealers list on the CRK website? The website is a bit clunky and unfriendly but they do have a link there on the contact page.

This is where I am leaning, but in some images the titanium on the micarta inlays looks darker than the plain Jane titanium. Is this the case or just a lighting/exposure trick? I like the darker look.

That's not the case. The titanium as well as its finish are the same on both the plain Jane and Micarta.

Can't go wrong with that choice. After a few years now of carrying mainly CRK (and a few other brands to mix it up) I find I prefer the small CRK size for EDC, even though I can carry whatever size knife I want without issue. Chris Reeve really had a moment of genius when he chose the two sizes. I know lots of folk pine for a medium, but I think the two sizes are well chosen. The large is adequately large enough for large knife jobs, and the small size fits perfect in the pocket, clipped or loose, for everything a normal person might encounter in a day. Very similar to the idea of the old sodbusters and other old time pocket folders. Your are going to love it, with it's bare-bones, simple beauty and function. Just be prepared to be a little underwhelmed until the details and great usefulness of the design start to become more apparent.

My suggestion is that, if you plan to maintain a small collection of modern folders, choose what most appeals to you on your first CRK purchase. If you plan to potentially pick up multiple in the future, then start with the plain jane 21.

A point to consider with the Small 21 Drop Point - rather than selecting the standard blade, you may be able to find a few options of the DT Damascus. The "Plain Jane" combination of the titanium slabs and damascus blade has been my favorite in my large 21, of five CRK folders I've had.

Just ordered a new plain jane 21 drop point after selling a few other unused knives I had around! Now to stare longly at the mailbox for a few days.

Congrats! Large or Small? You are going to love it! The hardest part is using it for the first time and getting that first mark on it. No fear though, CRK can always make it brand new again.

Small - Based on other knives I own today I expect that will be the best fit for me. Im not worried about using it. I have more traditionals than modern now, most in 1095 reactive steel. It doesnt look new as soon as you slice one apple. I actually love the character brought to your knives after being put to use. No safe queens for me!

I like that perspective! Congratulations, and I look forward to your comments once received.

Here it is!

Better photos to come later. First impressions are really great. Size is right for me. Probably the most impressive grind and lockup of any knife I've held.
