You ever noticed booze-induced ideas take on the air of 'grandiose'? I'm not going to say, "I had a dream.....", I'll leave that to Martin Luther King, but sitting here punchin' back some vodka and orange, I had a bit of an Epiphany. We have a lot of talented, experienced, WS&S types here in Ontario, we do!
I notice our American brothers put together some awesome get-togethers in the U.S., such as W.A.R. and P.E.A.C.E, for example. What are we? Performance impaired? I say no. And because of this, I want to take a shot. A three day weekend in Southern Ontario, dedicated to wilderness survival and primitive skills. Centrally located, to make it as convenient as possible for everyone here (and bordering U.S. states)
Can the U.S. brothers come up and participate -ABSOLUTELY and welcome they are!
A buddy of mine is an expert flintknapper. Another, a rabbit snarer extrordinaire (50 some years experience), I can teach friction fire, cordage making, trap making and a few other things (with Pierre's help, of course).
I know of a knife forger here in Ontario (no, I'm not talking about illegally similar knives), hopefully, he will get inspired. Besides, I think he wants to insult me in person.
We have an expert kydex maker, hopefully, he would be agreeable to set up shop, and, also, some custom knife makers (are you hearing me Jimi, and what about you, Abe?)
I think this could be primo. Like everything else, depends on the contributors. I'm game, what say you? Thinking about after Labour Day, 2010.
Good idea, or have another drink and turn on the tv? Up to you, my fellow Ontarioans!
