Those are the two reasons why the Delica is different and better for some tasks than those other spydercos. The Delica seems sturdier for a lot of the work I do than the full flat grind blades. They both have their strengths so I find it hard to part with my D4. It's an easy to carry, quality knife that you can rely on for quite a number of tasks.
My VG-10 D4 is my garage knife. That's because it has a strong blade and it can cut down boxes and stuff really well. With regards to the Saber grind, it's not my favorite and out the box; it wasn't performing the way I expected. But what I did was polish the entire primary bevel and smoothed over the hump where the bevel starts. Now it will push cut cardboard much better than before.
I looks a bit weird and I screwed up the tip a bit when I was first learning to use paper wheels for sharpening but it's a great little knife regardless. One thing I learned recently about VG-10 is that it tends to roll instead of chip and allows you to steel the blade and restore the edge for a longer lasting edge.
