My fbm has had extensive edge work done on it I would say the edge has had at least 2/3 of its metal removed and is thinned down to extremes. As you can see from these pics, there is a full convex edge.

I have placed a 10 penny nail on the railroad ties and….

Chopped staright into it, with I would guess 50% power

Here is the damage to the nail

Now, I have done this test many times, I have had mixed results, manytimes I have not even been able to tell what part of the edge hit the nail, no damage at all …. Keep in mind my edge is thinned a lot……

Other times I have had a slight roll, I have never experienced a chip of the kind others claim to have experienced

keep in mind i did this several times during this test as i kept chopping through the nail and it would go flying off into my yard...... i believe i chopped thru 4 nails

Thanks! I have wanted to try this but just havent gotten around to it, I guess I'll go see what my thicker edged FBM will do.

i never thought of this as an extreme test since i do it all the time...... it seems the norm for what i use my knifes for...... i regularly throw my knives into 20 gauge sheet steel......

Here's a couple pics & a short video of an FBM chopping through a soup can. Cut through it very cleanly. This FBM also has a much thinner than stock edge. You can see at the end that these cuts did cause some damage & roll the edge some. 25 minutes on the stone and it was sharp again.

i am not afraid to use these knives however i see fit, not because jerry offers to replace them if they fail, but because i have never had them fail...... alot of people offer to replace knives if they fail, and i dont have any of thier knives ....why? cause they failed.

Similarly to VTW,

I've had hard, accidental contacts of my knife against the thick metal wire of a chain link fence, at steep angles, while chopping vegetation. I've never had damage like that picture.

Now that is worthy punishment!
That blade on the other forum looks like it was shot with a .22.....

As you can see I have placed three nails at differing angles…… the one closest to 45 degrees is the first and that is the only one I didn’t cut thru all the way and then you can view my edge……

I fail to see how the edge damage to the other jerrys knife happened…… as I said I do this crap all the time…..
