At 27 years I'm still a young man but I'm already cutting down my collection. I'll end up owning more knives than I currently do I'm sure but I don't want a huge collection anymore, so I'm slowing down my purchasing. I have 10 knives, a small collection. One of those is a mora with a one inch blade for woodworking, so while it's definitely a knife it's strictly a woodworking knife for me, and I'm not counting woodworking tools amongst my knife collection. I whittle with my pocketknives, but they are obviously counted as knives, not woodworking tools. One of my knives is a modern tactical that I never carry or use, not since switching to traditionals, which I now buy and use exclusively. It's in no shape to sell or give to anyone, and I won't use it, so unless I throw it out I'm using it to practice sharpening.
I've given away to friends and family, reducing my collection to the current 9 or 10, My reasons are not borne from thoughts of mortality, but being Catholic I don't want to become too materialistic. This life is brief and prepares us for eternity (*not* meaning to preach at anyone or go offtopic but explaining my *own* personal reasons, that's all, so forgive me

) I like things that work and are sturdy, be it clothing or tools, so I buy quality, but quantity of possessions only comes into play with me for knives and books (also reducing my book collection). Ill still get more knives, some to keep, some to use for a while then give away, but I'm trying to slow things down and enjoy what I've already got.
Still buying my first congress and stockmans later this year though
