Third knife completed...looking for opinions

So, I'm giving this knife to my dad for Christmas and I can't decide whether or not I should put a patina on the blade.
As of now I'm thinking a patina would go nicely with the handle design, but I'd like opinions.

1095 steel
8 ¾" overall length, 3 ¾" blade
deer antler bolsters
ancient bog oak
birdseye maple
red spacers/liner
stainless pins and thong tube

I would leave it as is.

For future thought;
Try and not mix too many things. The stag, plus bog oak, plus maple, plus red liners, plus file work, ..... would be nicer without quite so much mash-up. Nothing is wrong with what you have, but simpler is almost always better.

Think of it this way:
I like gals in tight sweaters.
I like gals in high heels.
I like gals in skimpy bikinis.
I like gals with copper arm bracelets.
I like gals with fancy diamond dangle ear rings.
However a good looking gal wearing all those at the same time would be less attractive than if she wore only one or two together. ( for me, the heels and ear rings alone would be fine :) Since this is a PG forum, I guess we have to put the bikini on her, too :D )

I would let him earn it. You've done the hard (and amazing) work! However I wouldn't have mixed all the different handle materials. Still looks good though.

Lol, this is funny! I guess I was trying to break up all that "blonde" color with something interesting. Thank you for the advice!

Good point! Thank you.

Nice job! You don't need a lot to compliment all that blonde wood. The simple addition of the red liners would have been plenty and very tasteful. Regardless, the only thing your Dad will see is the greatest knife ever made.

The knife looks great, nothing better than a natural patina.I would give it as is and wait for the patina to form on it's own.

It looks really good. As Bladsmth said and I concur it could be toned down just a hair. Everyone has their on likes and dislikes. As far as I can tell the work looks good though. Thanks for posting.

Thank you guys for the compliments and feedback! And yes, I'm sure my dad will like it no matter what

Since I am new to this whole knife making thing also. I will say great job! you incorporated several new skills that you have now learned, Nice shape, fitting liners and gluing up different woods for the scale and file work. all on your third knife and well executed. I think the constructive criticism will help in the future but as a father I would be very proud if I was given that knife.
