Hey guys, this one isn't finished yet but with Stacy's help this was my third attempt to get a visible hamon and a decent knife.

It's shown here at 400grit after a few minutes in some vinegar. It's 1080 forged and HT'd in 130 degree veggie oil.

As usual, I'm looking for opinions and what not so fire away.

I really liked the shape of the blade and the curves around handle around ricasso and plunge. Great job, functional and something in style :thumbup:

To be honest, I'm not terribly happy with the plunge. It's my first attempt at it and it's not quite as clean as I was hoping for.

Kinda like a nessmuk or however you spell it. Nice hamon and Finnish? kinda being punny.

Lol, going to look up a Nessmuk? now...

I'm a hunter myself so I like blades that can be used for skinning and field dressing and so far thats what my blades have reflected. On the next one I think I'll try a drop point or something like that.

Wish my 3rd one looked that good. Keep er going.

Hmm, if you count all the practice I've done in clay then it may not be my 3rd...

From some pointers around here I practiced for awhile with some potters clay and a hammer just to get the feel for what happens when I hammer in certain ways. This was a BIG help!
