I was screwing around with this today and I got to thinking its such a no brainer it must have been done before.. Not being the kinda guy who likes to "barrow" peoples idea'rs I figured I would ask you all.. That and the fact I cant figure out how to make it whistle yet!, and dont want to waste time if its been done..:D

This is rough as hell, but its got a 1/4" mish metal rod that would be pinned into place, and there would be some sort of way to hang it on stuff..

It may seem goofy but I like combining useful tools that compliment each other in use, and plus I like to play with fire..:D:thumbup:

Also if nobody has done this before, does anyone have any whistle makin tips??;):o:D

That's a good idea. So good, in fact, that I'm suprised I haven't seen one before.

Thats what IM sayin...;) Seems so logical that it must have been done, but I never saw it..LOL..

OK nobody run out to the garage and with some tubing and a dremel and let the air out of this sail..Ha!!:D

Trace, I think it's one of those things where, once they've seen yours, everybody else slaps themselves in the head and says "Duh. Why didn't I think of that?"

Dunno Trace, I'm still thinking about one of those double barrel strikers you posted the other week.
I have made a couple whitsles clean edges and good air seal.
What was the problem?
Carl
Ps Gunna be busy over the next couple weeks Sarting tonight ( my time) So I may not get back to you straight away.

Now if you can make a variant where when you blow it, it sparks the firesteel and sends sparks flying, that would be something.

I don't think that one has been done before. I have to say though, this one could give the firesteel "Blue Dagger" a whole new dimension!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D :D :D

THAT is awesome. I want one now. How has that not been done before? Great "invention" if it hasn't been done before.

I have an orange whistle/compass/storage tube thingy with a crappy little FS embedded in the side from RR, but I've never seen anything exactly like yours. Very cool little tool.

way cool- good idea. A few properly placed holes and you could play a tune while you wait to be rescued, all warm and cozy by the fire you just started.

Oh No, …not the Blue Dagger.

It may be cool (hot?) in camp,

…but not to be trusted as a way to make fire or signal your position.

I think you have an original idea my friend.

Uuuh the problem was she no werky..;) I think its the whole "clean edge" part..Ha!! This was done real caveman style and now that I think it may be an original concept will work on getting it to actually make sound..LOL..

Thanks everyone!!.. Im really kinda dissapointed in Ya'll for not thinking of this before me ..ROFL... I keeeid I keeeid...:D

I'll make another one that looks trick, and WORKS then I'll show it to you guys and gals..

Im still waiting for someone to step up and say Oh yeah I got one of those at Cabella's last week...:o

Trace,

I was looking at your photos again, and I noticed that you don't have the interior piece that the air has to flow over to make the sound. You might want to Google making a willow whistle. The parts would be the same, it's just that you're using steel instead of willow. I know willow whistles work, because I used to make them as a kid.

Start cranking them out, stamp a "WS&S" on the whistle, and rake in the cash!

No, I don't think it has! Great idea, patent it quick! Or sell it to the Going Gear guy, he is pretty firesteel savvy.

You've done it again, Trace. Another cool idea.

Are you selling any of your firesteels on your site yet? I can't seem to find them.
